Luke

Chapter 22

1 NOW the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the passover, was at hand.

2 And the high priests and the scribes sought how to kill him; but they were afraid of the people.

3 But Satan had taken possession of Judas who is called of Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.

4 So he went away, and spoke with the high priests and the scribes and officers of the temple, about delivering him to them.

5 And they were glad and promised to give him money.

6 And he agreed with them, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the people.

7 Then the day of unleavened bread came, on which it was the custom to kill the passover lamb.

8 So Jesus sent Peter and John, and said to them, Go and prepare the passover for us to eat.

9 They said to him, Where do you wish us to prepare?

10 He said to them, Behold, when you enter the city, you will meet a man carrying a skin full of water; follow him. And wherever he enters,

11 Say to the master of the house, Our Teacher says, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the passover with my disciples?

12 And behold, he will show you an upper room, large and furnished; there make ready.

13 And they went and found just as he had said to them; and they prepared the passover.

14 And when the time came, Jesus came and sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

15 And he said to them, I have desired with desire to eat this passover with you before I suffer;

16 For I say to you, that henceforth, I will not eat it, until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

17 And he took the cup and gave thanks and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves.

18 For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.

19 And he took bread and gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them and said, This is my body, which is given for your sake; this do in remembrance of me.

20 And likewise also the cup, after they had eaten the supper, he said, This is the cup of the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.

21 But behold, the hand of him who is to betray me is on the table.

22 And the Son of man will go, just as he has been destined; but woe to the man by whose hand he will be betrayed!

23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which one of them was to do this act.

24 There was also a dispute among them, as to who is the greatest among them.

25 Jesus said to them, The kings of the Gentiles are also their owners; and those who rule over them are called benefactors.

26 But not so with you; but he who is great among you, let him be the least, and he who is a leader be like a minister.

27 For who is greater, he who sits down or he who serves? Is it not he who sits down? but I am among you as one who serves.

28 You are those who have remained with me, throughout my trials.

29 And I promise you, just as my Father has promised me, a kingdom,

30 That you may eat and drink at the table in my kingdom; and you will sit on chairs, and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

31 And Jesus said to Simon, Simon, behold Satan wants to sift all of you as wheat;

32 But I have made supplication for you that your faith may not weaken; and even you in time will repent, and strengthen your brethren.

33 Simon said to him, My Lord, I am ready with you, even for the prison and for death.

34 Jesus said to him, I say to you, Simon, the cock will not crow today, until you have denied three times that you know me.

35 And he said to them, When I sent you out without purses, and without bags, and shoes, did you lack anything? They said to him, Not a thing.

36 He said to them, From now on he who has purses, let him take them, and the bag likewise; and he who has no sword, let him sell his robe and buy for himself a sword.

37 For I say to you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in me, He will be numbered among the wicked; for all the things concerning me will be fulfilled.

38 And they said to him, Our Lord, behold here are two swords. He said to them, That is enough.

39 And he went out and went away, as it was his custom, to the Mount of the Home of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

40 And when he arrived at a place, he said to them, Pray that you may not enter into temptation.

41 And he separated from them, about the distance of a stone's throw, and he kneeled down, and prayed,

42 Saying, O Father, if you will, let this cup pass from me; but not as I will, but your will be done.

43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, to strengthen him.

44 And he was in fear, and prayed earnestly; and his sweat became like drops of blood; and he fell down upon the ground.

45 Then he rose up from his prayer, and came to his disciples, and found them sleeping because of distress.

46 And he said to them, Why do you sleep? rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.

47 While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who is called Judas, one of the twelve, coming before them; and he drew near to Jesus and kissed him. For this was the sign he had given them, He whom I kiss, it is he.

48 Jesus said to him, Judas, do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?

49 When those who were with him saw what happened, they said to him, Our Lord, shall we smite them with swords?

50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

51 But Jesus answered and said, It is enough for the present. And he touched the ear of him who was wounded, and healed it.

52 And Jesus said to the high priests and the elders and the officers of the temple, who had come against him, Have you come out against me to arrest me with swords and staves, as if you were against a bandit?

53 I was with you every day in the temple, and you did not even point your hands at me; but this is your turn, and the power of darkness.

54 And they arrested him, and brought him to the house of the high priest. And Simon followed him afar off.

55 And they kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard, and they sat around it; and Simon also sat among them.

56 And a young woman saw him sitting by the fire, and she looked at him and said, This man also was with him.

57 But he denied, and said, Woman, I do not know him.

58 And after a little while, another saw him, and said to him, You also are one of them. But Peter said, I am not.

59 And after an hour, another one argued and said, Truly, this man also was with him; for he is also a Galilean.

60 Peter said, Man, I do not know what you are saying. And immediately while he was still speaking, the cock crew.

61 And Jesus turned and looked at Peter. And Simon remembered the word of our Lord, that he said to him, Before the cock crows you will deny me three times.

62 And Simon went outside and wept bitterly.

63 And the men who held Jesus mocked him,

64 And they covered his head, and smote him on his face, saying, Prophesy, who has struck you.

65 And many other things they blasphemed and said against him.

66 As soon as it was daybreak, the elders and the high priests and the scribes gathered together, and brought him up to their council chamber.

67 And they said to him, If you are the Christ, tell us. He said to them, If I tell you, you will not believe me.

68 And if I ask you, you will not answer me nor release me.

69 From henceforth the Son of man will sit at the right hand of the power of God.

70 And they all said, Are you then the Son of God? Jesus said to them, You say that I am.

71 And they said, Why then do we need witnesses? for we have heard it from his own mouth.

Luke

Chapter 22

1 Now1161 the feast1859 of unleavened106 bread drew near,1448 which is called3004 the Passover.3957

2 And the chief749 priests749 and scribes1122 sought2212 how4459 they might kill337 him; for they feared5399 the people.2992

3 Then1161 entered1525 Satan4567 into1519 Judas2455 surnamed1941 Iscariot,2469 being5607 of the number706 of the twelve.1427

4 And he went565 his way, and communed4814 with the chief749 priests749 and captains,4755 how4459 he might betray3860 him to them.

5 And they were glad,5463 and covenanted4934 to give1325 him money.694

6 And he promised,1843 and sought2212 opportunity2120 to betray3860 him to them in the absence817 of the multitude.3793

7 Then1161 came2064 the day2250 of unleavened106 bread, when1722 3739 the passover3957 must1163 be killed.2380

8 And he sent649 Peter4074 and John,2491 saying,2036 Go4198 and prepare2090 us the passover,3957 that we may eat.5315

9 And they said2036 to him, Where4226 will2309 you that we prepare?2090

10 And he said2036 to them, Behold,2400 when you are entered1525 into1519 the city,4172 there shall a man444 meet4876 you, bearing941 a pitcher2765 of water;5204 follow190 him into1519 the house3614 where3757 he enters1531 in.

11 And you shall say2046 to the manager3611 of the house,3614 The Master1320 said3004 to you, Where4226 is the guest room,2646 where3699 I shall eat5315 the passover3957 with my disciples?3101

12 And he shall show1166 you a large3173 upper508 room furnished:4766 there1563 make2090 ready.2090

13 And they went,565 and found2147 as he had said2046 to them: and they made2090 ready2090 the passover.3957

14 And when3753 3588 the hour5610 was come,1096 he sat377 down,377 and the twelve1427 apostles652 with him.

15 And he said2036 to them, With desire1939 I have desired1937 to eat5315 this5124 passover3957 with you before4253 I suffer:3958

16 For I say3004 to you, I will not any3765 more3765 eat5315 thereof,1538 846 until2193 it be fulfilled4137 in the kingdom932 of God.2316

17 And he took1209 the cup,4221 and gave thanks,2168 and said,2036 Take2983 this,5124 and divide1266 it among yourselves:1438

18 For I say3004 to you, I will not drink4095 of the fruit1081 of the vine,288 until2193 the kingdom932 of God2316 shall come.2064

19 And he took2983 bread,740 and gave thanks,2168 and broke2806 it, and gave1325 to them, saying,3004 This5124 is my body4983 which3588 is given1325 for you: this5124 do4160 in remembrance364 of me.

20 Likewise5615 also2532 the cup4221 after3326 supper,1172 saying,3004 This5124 cup4221 is the new2537 testament1242 in my blood,129 which3588 is shed1632 for you.

21 But, behold,2400 the hand5495 of him that betrays3860 me is with me on1909 the table.5132

22 And truly3303 the Son5207 of man444 goes,4198 as it was determined:3724 but woe3759 to that man444 by whom3739 he is betrayed!3860

23 And they began756 to inquire4802 among4314 themselves,1438 which5101 of them it was that should3195 do4238 this5124 thing.

24 And there was also2532 a strife5379 among1722 them, which5101 of them should be accounted1380 the greatest.3187

25 And he said2036 to them, The kings935 of the Gentiles1484 exercise2961 lordship2961 over them; and they that exercise1850 authority1850 on them are called2564 benefactors.2110

26 But you shall not be so:3779 but he that is greatest3187 among1722 you, let him be as the younger;3501 and he that is chief,2233 as he that does serve.1247

27 For whether5101 is greater,3187 he that sits345 at345 meat, or2228 he that serves?1247 is not he that sits345 at345 meat? but I am1510 among1722 3319 you as he that serves.1247

28 You are they which have continued1265 with me in my temptations.3986

29 And I appoint1303 to you a kingdom,932 as my Father3962 has appointed1303 to me;

30 That you may eat2068 and drink4095 at1909 my table5132 in my kingdom,932 and sit2523 on1909 thrones2362 judging2919 the twelve1427 tribes5443 of Israel.2474

31 And the Lord2962 said,2036 Simon,4613 Simon,4613 behold,2400 Satan4567 has desired1809 to have you, that he may sift4617 you as wheat:4621

32 But I have prayed1189 for you, that your faith4102 fail1587 not: and when4218 you are converted,1994 strengthen4741 your brothers.80

33 And he said2036 to him, Lord,2962 I am1510 ready2092 to go4198 with you, both2532 into1519 prison,5438 and to death.2288

34 And he said,3004 I tell3004 you, Peter,4074 the cock220 shall not crow5455 this4594 day,4594 before4250 2228 that you shall thrice5151 deny533 that you know1492 me.

35 And he said2036 to them, When3753 I sent649 you without817 purse,905 and money,4082 and shoes,5266 lacked5302 you any5100 thing? And they said,2036 Nothing.3762

36 Then3767 said2036 he to them, But now,3568 he that has2192 a purse,905 let him take142 it, and likewise3668 his money:4082 and he that has2192 no3361 sword,3162 let him sell4453 his garment,2440 and buy59 one.

37 For I say3004 to you, that this5124 that is written1125 must1163 yet2089 be accomplished5055 in me, And he was reckoned3049 among3326 the transgressors:459 for the things concerning4012 me have2192 an end.5056

38 And they said,2036 Lord,2962 behold,2400 here5602 are two1417 swords.3162 And he said2036 to them, It is enough.2425

39 And he came1831 out, and went,4198 as he was wont,2596 1485 to the mount3735 of Olives;1636 and his disciples3101 also2532 followed190 him.

40 And when he was at1909 the place,5117 he said2036 to them, Pray4336 that you enter1525 not into1519 temptation.3986

41 And he was withdrawn645 from them about5616 a stone's3037 cast,1000 and kneeled5087 1119 down, and prayed,4336

42 Saying,3004 Father,3962 if1487 you be willing,1014 remove3911 this5124 cup4221 from me: nevertheless4133 not my will,2307 but yours,4674 be done.1096

43 And there appeared3700 an angel32 to him from heaven,3772 strengthening1765 him.

44 And being1096 in an agony74 he prayed4336 more1617 earnestly:1617 and his sweat2402 was as it were great drops2361 of blood129 falling2597 down2597 to the ground.1093

45 And when he rose450 up from prayer,4335 and was come2064 to his disciples,3101 he found2147 them sleeping2837 for sorrow,3077

46 And said2036 to them, Why5101 sleep2518 you? rise450 and pray,4336 lest2443 3361 you enter1525 into1519 temptation.3986

47 And while he yet2089 spoke,2980 behold2400 a multitude,3793 and he that was called3004 Judas,2455 one1520 of the twelve,1427 went4281 before4281 them, and drew near1448 to Jesus2424 to kiss5368 him.

48 But Jesus2424 said2036 to him, Judas,2455 betray3860 you the Son5207 of man444 with a kiss?5370

49 When they which were about4012 him saw1492 what3588 would follow,2071 they said2036 to him, Lord,2962 shall we smite3960 with the sword?3162

50 And one1520 of them smote3960 the servant1401 of the high749 priest,749 and cut851 off851 his right1188 ear.3775

51 And Jesus2424 answered611 and said,2036 Suffer1439 you thus5127 far.2193 And he touched680 his ear,5621 and healed2390 him.

52 Then1161 Jesus2424 said2036 to the chief749 priests,749 and captains4755 of the temple,2411 and the elders,4245 which were come3854 to him, Be you come1831 out, as against1909 a thief,3027 with swords3162 and staves?3586

53 When I was daily2596 2250 with you in the temple,2411 you stretched1614 forth1614 no3756 hands5495 against1909 me: but this3778 is your5216 hour,5610 and the power1849 of darkness.4655

54 Then1161 took4815 they him, and led71 him, and brought1521 him into1519 the high749 priest's749 house.3624 And Peter4074 followed190 afar3113 off.

55 And when they had kindled681 a fire4442 in the middle3319 of the hall,833 and were set4776 down4776 together,4776 Peter4074 sat2521 down2521 among3319 them.

56 But a certain5100 maid3814 beheld1492 him as he sat2521 by the fire,5457 and earnestly816 looked816 on him, and said,2036 This3778 man was also2532 with him.

57 And he denied720 him, saying,3004 Woman,1135 I know1492 him not.

58 And after3326 a little1024 while another2087 saw1492 him, and said,5346 You are1488 also2532 of them. And Peter4074 said,2036 Man,444 I am1510 not.

59 And about5616 the space1339 of one3391 hour5610 after another243 confidently1340 affirmed,1340 saying,3004 Of a truth225 this3778 fellow also2532 was with him: for he is a Galilaean.1057

60 And Peter4074 said,2036 Man,444 I know1492 not what3739 you say.3004 And immediately,3916 while he yet2089 spoke,2980 the cock220 crew.5455

61 And the Lord2962 turned,4762 and looked1689 on Peter.4074 And Peter4074 remembered5279 the word3056 of the Lord,2962 how5613 he had said2036 to him, Before4250 the cock220 crow,5455 you shall deny533 me thrice.5151

62 And Peter4074 went1831 out, and wept2799 bitterly.4090

63 And the men435 that held4912 Jesus2424 mocked1702 him, and smote1194 him.

64 And when they had blindfolded4028 him, they struck5180 him on the face,4383 and asked1905 him, saying,3004 Prophesy,4395 who5101 is it that smote3817 you?

65 And many4183 other2087 things blasphemously987 spoke3004 they against1519 him.

66 And as soon as it was day,2250 the elders4244 of the people2992 and the chief749 priests749 and the scribes1122 came4863 together,4863 and led321 him into1519 their council,4892 saying,3004

67 Are1488 you the Christ?5547 tell2036 us. And he said2036 to them, If1437 I tell2036 you, you will not believe:4100

68 And if1437 I also2532 ask2065 you, you will not answer611 me, nor2228 let630 me go.630

69 Hereafter575 3568 shall the Son5207 of man444 sit2521 on1537 the right1188 hand of the power1411 of God.2316

70 Then1161 said5346 they all,3956 Are1488 you then3767 the Son5207 of God?2316 And he said2036 to them, You say3004 that I am.1510

71 And they said,2036 What5101 need2192 5532 we any2089 further2089 witness?3141 for we ourselves have heard191 of his own1438 mouth.4750

Luke

Chapter 22

1 NOW the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the passover, was at hand.

1 Now1161 the feast1859 of unleavened106 bread drew near,1448 which is called3004 the Passover.3957

2 And the high priests and the scribes sought how to kill him; but they were afraid of the people.

2 And the chief749 priests749 and scribes1122 sought2212 how4459 they might kill337 him; for they feared5399 the people.2992

3 But Satan had taken possession of Judas who is called of Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.

3 Then1161 entered1525 Satan4567 into1519 Judas2455 surnamed1941 Iscariot,2469 being5607 of the number706 of the twelve.1427

4 So he went away, and spoke with the high priests and the scribes and officers of the temple, about delivering him to them.

4 And he went565 his way, and communed4814 with the chief749 priests749 and captains,4755 how4459 he might betray3860 him to them.

5 And they were glad and promised to give him money.

5 And they were glad,5463 and covenanted4934 to give1325 him money.694

6 And he agreed with them, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the people.

6 And he promised,1843 and sought2212 opportunity2120 to betray3860 him to them in the absence817 of the multitude.3793

7 Then the day of unleavened bread came, on which it was the custom to kill the passover lamb.

7 Then1161 came2064 the day2250 of unleavened106 bread, when1722 3739 the passover3957 must1163 be killed.2380

8 So Jesus sent Peter and John, and said to them, Go and prepare the passover for us to eat.

8 And he sent649 Peter4074 and John,2491 saying,2036 Go4198 and prepare2090 us the passover,3957 that we may eat.5315

9 They said to him, Where do you wish us to prepare?

9 And they said2036 to him, Where4226 will2309 you that we prepare?2090

10 He said to them, Behold, when you enter the city, you will meet a man carrying a skin full of water; follow him. And wherever he enters,

10 And he said2036 to them, Behold,2400 when you are entered1525 into1519 the city,4172 there shall a man444 meet4876 you, bearing941 a pitcher2765 of water;5204 follow190 him into1519 the house3614 where3757 he enters1531 in.

11 Say to the master of the house, Our Teacher says, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the passover with my disciples?

11 And you shall say2046 to the manager3611 of the house,3614 The Master1320 said3004 to you, Where4226 is the guest room,2646 where3699 I shall eat5315 the passover3957 with my disciples?3101

12 And behold, he will show you an upper room, large and furnished; there make ready.

12 And he shall show1166 you a large3173 upper508 room furnished:4766 there1563 make2090 ready.2090

13 And they went and found just as he had said to them; and they prepared the passover.

13 And they went,565 and found2147 as he had said2046 to them: and they made2090 ready2090 the passover.3957

14 And when the time came, Jesus came and sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

14 And when3753 3588 the hour5610 was come,1096 he sat377 down,377 and the twelve1427 apostles652 with him.

15 And he said to them, I have desired with desire to eat this passover with you before I suffer;

15 And he said2036 to them, With desire1939 I have desired1937 to eat5315 this5124 passover3957 with you before4253 I suffer:3958

16 For I say to you, that henceforth, I will not eat it, until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

16 For I say3004 to you, I will not any3765 more3765 eat5315 thereof,1538 846 until2193 it be fulfilled4137 in the kingdom932 of God.2316

17 And he took the cup and gave thanks and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves.

17 And he took1209 the cup,4221 and gave thanks,2168 and said,2036 Take2983 this,5124 and divide1266 it among yourselves:1438

18 For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.

18 For I say3004 to you, I will not drink4095 of the fruit1081 of the vine,288 until2193 the kingdom932 of God2316 shall come.2064

19 And he took bread and gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them and said, This is my body, which is given for your sake; this do in remembrance of me.

19 And he took2983 bread,740 and gave thanks,2168 and broke2806 it, and gave1325 to them, saying,3004 This5124 is my body4983 which3588 is given1325 for you: this5124 do4160 in remembrance364 of me.

20 And likewise also the cup, after they had eaten the supper, he said, This is the cup of the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.

20 Likewise5615 also2532 the cup4221 after3326 supper,1172 saying,3004 This5124 cup4221 is the new2537 testament1242 in my blood,129 which3588 is shed1632 for you.

21 But behold, the hand of him who is to betray me is on the table.

21 But, behold,2400 the hand5495 of him that betrays3860 me is with me on1909 the table.5132

22 And the Son of man will go, just as he has been destined; but woe to the man by whose hand he will be betrayed!

22 And truly3303 the Son5207 of man444 goes,4198 as it was determined:3724 but woe3759 to that man444 by whom3739 he is betrayed!3860

23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which one of them was to do this act.

23 And they began756 to inquire4802 among4314 themselves,1438 which5101 of them it was that should3195 do4238 this5124 thing.

24 There was also a dispute among them, as to who is the greatest among them.

24 And there was also2532 a strife5379 among1722 them, which5101 of them should be accounted1380 the greatest.3187

25 Jesus said to them, The kings of the Gentiles are also their owners; and those who rule over them are called benefactors.

25 And he said2036 to them, The kings935 of the Gentiles1484 exercise2961 lordship2961 over them; and they that exercise1850 authority1850 on them are called2564 benefactors.2110

26 But not so with you; but he who is great among you, let him be the least, and he who is a leader be like a minister.

26 But you shall not be so:3779 but he that is greatest3187 among1722 you, let him be as the younger;3501 and he that is chief,2233 as he that does serve.1247

27 For who is greater, he who sits down or he who serves? Is it not he who sits down? but I am among you as one who serves.

27 For whether5101 is greater,3187 he that sits345 at345 meat, or2228 he that serves?1247 is not he that sits345 at345 meat? but I am1510 among1722 3319 you as he that serves.1247

28 You are those who have remained with me, throughout my trials.

28 You are they which have continued1265 with me in my temptations.3986

29 And I promise you, just as my Father has promised me, a kingdom,

29 And I appoint1303 to you a kingdom,932 as my Father3962 has appointed1303 to me;

30 That you may eat and drink at the table in my kingdom; and you will sit on chairs, and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

30 That you may eat2068 and drink4095 at1909 my table5132 in my kingdom,932 and sit2523 on1909 thrones2362 judging2919 the twelve1427 tribes5443 of Israel.2474

31 And Jesus said to Simon, Simon, behold Satan wants to sift all of you as wheat;

31 And the Lord2962 said,2036 Simon,4613 Simon,4613 behold,2400 Satan4567 has desired1809 to have you, that he may sift4617 you as wheat:4621

32 But I have made supplication for you that your faith may not weaken; and even you in time will repent, and strengthen your brethren.

32 But I have prayed1189 for you, that your faith4102 fail1587 not: and when4218 you are converted,1994 strengthen4741 your brothers.80

33 Simon said to him, My Lord, I am ready with you, even for the prison and for death.

33 And he said2036 to him, Lord,2962 I am1510 ready2092 to go4198 with you, both2532 into1519 prison,5438 and to death.2288

34 Jesus said to him, I say to you, Simon, the cock will not crow today, until you have denied three times that you know me.

34 And he said,3004 I tell3004 you, Peter,4074 the cock220 shall not crow5455 this4594 day,4594 before4250 2228 that you shall thrice5151 deny533 that you know1492 me.

35 And he said to them, When I sent you out without purses, and without bags, and shoes, did you lack anything? They said to him, Not a thing.

35 And he said2036 to them, When3753 I sent649 you without817 purse,905 and money,4082 and shoes,5266 lacked5302 you any5100 thing? And they said,2036 Nothing.3762

36 He said to them, From now on he who has purses, let him take them, and the bag likewise; and he who has no sword, let him sell his robe and buy for himself a sword.

36 Then3767 said2036 he to them, But now,3568 he that has2192 a purse,905 let him take142 it, and likewise3668 his money:4082 and he that has2192 no3361 sword,3162 let him sell4453 his garment,2440 and buy59 one.

37 For I say to you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in me, He will be numbered among the wicked; for all the things concerning me will be fulfilled.

37 For I say3004 to you, that this5124 that is written1125 must1163 yet2089 be accomplished5055 in me, And he was reckoned3049 among3326 the transgressors:459 for the things concerning4012 me have2192 an end.5056

38 And they said to him, Our Lord, behold here are two swords. He said to them, That is enough.

38 And they said,2036 Lord,2962 behold,2400 here5602 are two1417 swords.3162 And he said2036 to them, It is enough.2425

39 And he went out and went away, as it was his custom, to the Mount of the Home of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

39 And he came1831 out, and went,4198 as he was wont,2596 1485 to the mount3735 of Olives;1636 and his disciples3101 also2532 followed190 him.

40 And when he arrived at a place, he said to them, Pray that you may not enter into temptation.

40 And when he was at1909 the place,5117 he said2036 to them, Pray4336 that you enter1525 not into1519 temptation.3986

41 And he separated from them, about the distance of a stone's throw, and he kneeled down, and prayed,

41 And he was withdrawn645 from them about5616 a stone's3037 cast,1000 and kneeled5087 1119 down, and prayed,4336

42 Saying, O Father, if you will, let this cup pass from me; but not as I will, but your will be done.

42 Saying,3004 Father,3962 if1487 you be willing,1014 remove3911 this5124 cup4221 from me: nevertheless4133 not my will,2307 but yours,4674 be done.1096

43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, to strengthen him.

43 And there appeared3700 an angel32 to him from heaven,3772 strengthening1765 him.

44 And he was in fear, and prayed earnestly; and his sweat became like drops of blood; and he fell down upon the ground.

44 And being1096 in an agony74 he prayed4336 more1617 earnestly:1617 and his sweat2402 was as it were great drops2361 of blood129 falling2597 down2597 to the ground.1093

45 Then he rose up from his prayer, and came to his disciples, and found them sleeping because of distress.

45 And when he rose450 up from prayer,4335 and was come2064 to his disciples,3101 he found2147 them sleeping2837 for sorrow,3077

46 And he said to them, Why do you sleep? rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.

46 And said2036 to them, Why5101 sleep2518 you? rise450 and pray,4336 lest2443 3361 you enter1525 into1519 temptation.3986

47 While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who is called Judas, one of the twelve, coming before them; and he drew near to Jesus and kissed him. For this was the sign he had given them, He whom I kiss, it is he.

47 And while he yet2089 spoke,2980 behold2400 a multitude,3793 and he that was called3004 Judas,2455 one1520 of the twelve,1427 went4281 before4281 them, and drew near1448 to Jesus2424 to kiss5368 him.

48 Jesus said to him, Judas, do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?

48 But Jesus2424 said2036 to him, Judas,2455 betray3860 you the Son5207 of man444 with a kiss?5370

49 When those who were with him saw what happened, they said to him, Our Lord, shall we smite them with swords?

49 When they which were about4012 him saw1492 what3588 would follow,2071 they said2036 to him, Lord,2962 shall we smite3960 with the sword?3162

50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

50 And one1520 of them smote3960 the servant1401 of the high749 priest,749 and cut851 off851 his right1188 ear.3775

51 But Jesus answered and said, It is enough for the present. And he touched the ear of him who was wounded, and healed it.

51 And Jesus2424 answered611 and said,2036 Suffer1439 you thus5127 far.2193 And he touched680 his ear,5621 and healed2390 him.

52 And Jesus said to the high priests and the elders and the officers of the temple, who had come against him, Have you come out against me to arrest me with swords and staves, as if you were against a bandit?

52 Then1161 Jesus2424 said2036 to the chief749 priests,749 and captains4755 of the temple,2411 and the elders,4245 which were come3854 to him, Be you come1831 out, as against1909 a thief,3027 with swords3162 and staves?3586

53 I was with you every day in the temple, and you did not even point your hands at me; but this is your turn, and the power of darkness.

53 When I was daily2596 2250 with you in the temple,2411 you stretched1614 forth1614 no3756 hands5495 against1909 me: but this3778 is your5216 hour,5610 and the power1849 of darkness.4655

54 And they arrested him, and brought him to the house of the high priest. And Simon followed him afar off.

54 Then1161 took4815 they him, and led71 him, and brought1521 him into1519 the high749 priest's749 house.3624 And Peter4074 followed190 afar3113 off.

55 And they kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard, and they sat around it; and Simon also sat among them.

55 And when they had kindled681 a fire4442 in the middle3319 of the hall,833 and were set4776 down4776 together,4776 Peter4074 sat2521 down2521 among3319 them.

56 And a young woman saw him sitting by the fire, and she looked at him and said, This man also was with him.

56 But a certain5100 maid3814 beheld1492 him as he sat2521 by the fire,5457 and earnestly816 looked816 on him, and said,2036 This3778 man was also2532 with him.

57 But he denied, and said, Woman, I do not know him.

57 And he denied720 him, saying,3004 Woman,1135 I know1492 him not.

58 And after a little while, another saw him, and said to him, You also are one of them. But Peter said, I am not.

58 And after3326 a little1024 while another2087 saw1492 him, and said,5346 You are1488 also2532 of them. And Peter4074 said,2036 Man,444 I am1510 not.

59 And after an hour, another one argued and said, Truly, this man also was with him; for he is also a Galilean.

59 And about5616 the space1339 of one3391 hour5610 after another243 confidently1340 affirmed,1340 saying,3004 Of a truth225 this3778 fellow also2532 was with him: for he is a Galilaean.1057

60 Peter said, Man, I do not know what you are saying. And immediately while he was still speaking, the cock crew.

60 And Peter4074 said,2036 Man,444 I know1492 not what3739 you say.3004 And immediately,3916 while he yet2089 spoke,2980 the cock220 crew.5455

61 And Jesus turned and looked at Peter. And Simon remembered the word of our Lord, that he said to him, Before the cock crows you will deny me three times.

62 And Simon went outside and wept bitterly.

62 And Peter4074 went1831 out, and wept2799 bitterly.4090

63 And the men who held Jesus mocked him,

63 And the men435 that held4912 Jesus2424 mocked1702 him, and smote1194 him.

64 And they covered his head, and smote him on his face, saying, Prophesy, who has struck you.

64 And when they had blindfolded4028 him, they struck5180 him on the face,4383 and asked1905 him, saying,3004 Prophesy,4395 who5101 is it that smote3817 you?

65 And many other things they blasphemed and said against him.

65 And many4183 other2087 things blasphemously987 spoke3004 they against1519 him.

66 As soon as it was daybreak, the elders and the high priests and the scribes gathered together, and brought him up to their council chamber.

66 And as soon as it was day,2250 the elders4244 of the people2992 and the chief749 priests749 and the scribes1122 came4863 together,4863 and led321 him into1519 their council,4892 saying,3004

67 And they said to him, If you are the Christ, tell us. He said to them, If I tell you, you will not believe me.

67 Are1488 you the Christ?5547 tell2036 us. And he said2036 to them, If1437 I tell2036 you, you will not believe:4100

68 And if I ask you, you will not answer me nor release me.

68 And if1437 I also2532 ask2065 you, you will not answer611 me, nor2228 let630 me go.630

69 From henceforth the Son of man will sit at the right hand of the power of God.

69 Hereafter575 3568 shall the Son5207 of man444 sit2521 on1537 the right1188 hand of the power1411 of God.2316

70 And they all said, Are you then the Son of God? Jesus said to them, You say that I am.

70 Then1161 said5346 they all,3956 Are1488 you then3767 the Son5207 of God?2316 And he said2036 to them, You say3004 that I am.1510

71 And they said, Why then do we need witnesses? for we have heard it from his own mouth.

71 And they said,2036 What5101 need2192 5532 we any2089 further2089 witness?3141 for we ourselves have heard191 of his own1438 mouth.4750
