1 當時、分封之君希律聞耶穌聲名、

2 語其臣曰、此乃施洗約翰死而復生、故建異能也、〇

3 初、希律以其兄弟腓力之妻希羅底事、執約翰繫獄、

4 約翰曾謂之曰、納此婦非義也、

5 希律欲殺之、惟懼衆、蓋衆以約翰爲先知也、

6 適希律誕、希羅底女舞於前、希律喜、

7 遂誓許所求、

8 女爲母所唆、曰、請以施洗約翰之首、盤上賜我、

9 王憂、然旣誓、又以同席者在、乃命賜之、

10 遣人斬約翰於獄、

11 盛首於盤以賜女、女卽奉母、

12 其徒至、取屍葬之、往告耶穌、

13 耶穌聞之、去彼登舟、潛往於野、衆知之、由諸邑步從、〇

14 耶穌出、見衆、憫之、醫有病者、

15 薄暮、門徒就之曰、此乃曠野、時已逝、請散衆、往鄉市食、

16 耶穌曰、毋庸衆往、爾與之食可也、

19 遂命衆席草而坐、取五餅二魚、仰天祝而擘之、以餅予徒、徒予衆、

22 耶穌欲散衆、令門徒登舟、先濟彼岸、

Chapter 14

1 At1722 that time2540 Herod2264 the tetrarch5076 heard191 of the fame189 of Jesus,2424

2 And said2036 to his servants,3816 This3778 is John2491 the Baptist;910 he is risen1453 from the dead;3498 and therefore1223 5124 mighty1411 works do show1754 forth1754 themselves in him.

3 For Herod2264 had laid hold2902 on John,2491 and bound1210 him, and put5087 him in prison5438 for Herodias'2266 sake, his brother80 Philip's5376 wife.1135

4 For John2491 said3004 to him, It is not lawful1832 for you to have2192 her.

5 And when he would2309 have put615 him to death,615 he feared5399 the multitude,3793 because3754 they counted2192 him as a prophet.4396

6 But when Herod's2264 birthday1077 was kept,71 the daughter2364 of Herodias2266 danced3738 before3319 them, and pleased700 Herod.2264

7 Whereupon3606 he promised3670 with an oath3727 to give1325 her whatever3739 1437 she would ask.154

8 And she, being before4264 instructed4264 of her mother,3384 said,5346 Give1325 me here5602 John2491 Baptist's910 head2776 in a charger.4094

9 And the king935 was sorry:3076 nevertheless for the oath's3727 sake, and them which sat4873 with him at4873 meat, he commanded2753 it to be given1325 her.

10 And he sent,3992 and beheaded607 John2491 in the prison.5438

11 And his head2776 was brought5342 in a charger,4094 and given1325 to the damsel:2877 and she brought5342 it to her mother.3384

12 And his disciples3101 came,4334 and took142 up the body,4983 and buried2290 it, and went2064 and told518 Jesus.2424

13 When Jesus2424 heard191 of it, he departed402 there1564 by ship4143 into1519 a desert2048 place5117 apart:2596 2398 and when the people3793 had heard191 thereof, they followed190 him on3979 foot3979 out of the cities.4172

14 And Jesus2424 went1831 forth,1831 and saw1492 a great4183 multitude,3793 and was moved4697 with compassion4697 toward1909 them, and he healed2323 their sick.732

15 And when it was evening,3798 his disciples3101 came4334 to him, saying,3004 This3588 is a desert2048 place,5117 and the time5610 is now2235 past;3928 send630 the multitude3793 away,630 that they may go565 into1519 the villages,2968 and buy59 themselves1438 victuals.1033

16 But Jesus2424 said2036 to them, They need2192 5532 not depart;565 give1325 you them to eat.5315

17 And they say3004 to him, We have2192 here5602 but five4002 loaves,740 and two1417 fishes.2486

18 He said,2036 Bring5342 them here5602 to me.

19 And he commanded2753 the multitude3793 to sit347 down347 on1909 the grass,5528 and took2983 the five4002 loaves,740 and the two1417 fishes,2486 and looking308 up to heaven,3772 he blessed,2127 and broke,2806 and gave1325 the loaves740 to his disciples,3101 and the disciples3101 to the multitude.3793

20 And they did all3956 eat,5315 and were filled:5526 and they took142 up of the fragments2801 that remained4052 twelve1427 baskets2894 full.4134

21 And they that had eaten2068 were about5616 five4000 thousand4000 men,435 beside5565 women1135 and children.3813

22 And straightway2112 Jesus2424 constrained315 his disciples3101 to get1684 into1519 a ship,4143 and to go4254 before4254 him to the other4008 side,4008 while2193 he sent630 the multitudes3793 away.630

23 And when he had sent630 the multitudes3793 away,630 he went305 up into1519 a mountain3735 apart2596 2398 to pray:4336 and when the evening3798 was come,1096 he was there1563 alone.3441

24 But the ship4143 was now2235 in the middle3319 of the sea,2281 tossed928 with waves:2949 for the wind417 was contrary.1727
