第24章

1 約阿施登基的時候年七歲，在耶路撒冷作王四十年。他母親名叫西比亞，是別．是巴人。

2 祭司耶何耶大在世的時候，約阿施行耶和華眼中看為正的事。

3 耶何耶大為他娶了兩個妻，並且生兒養女。

4 此後，約阿施有意重修耶和華的殿，

5 他［he］便召聚眾祭司和利未人，對［said］他們說：「你們要往猶大各城去，向以色列眾人收聚錢財［gather of all Israel money］，每年可以修理你們神的殿，你們要急速辦理這事。」只是利未人不急速辦理。

6 王召了大祭司耶何耶大來，對他說：「從前照［according］耶和華的僕人摩西之吩咐［commandment of］，為作證［witness］的帳幕與以色列會眾所定的捐項，你為何不叫利未人照這例從猶大和耶路撒冷帶來作殿的費用呢？

7 因為那惡婦亞她利雅的眾子曾拆毀神的殿；又用耶和華殿中分別為聖的物供奉諸巴力［Baalim］。

8 於是王下令，眾人作了一箱［chest］，放在耶和華殿的門外。

9 他們［they］又通告猶大和耶路撒冷［Judah and Jerusalem］，要將神僕人摩西在曠野所加在以色列［laid upon Israel］的捐項給耶和華送來。

10 眾首領和百姓都歡歡喜喜地將銀子送來，投入箱［chest］中，直到捐完。

11 利未人見錢［money］多了，就把箱［chest］抬到王所派的司事面前，王的書記和大祭司的屬員來將箱［chest］倒空，仍放在原處。日日都是這樣，積蓄的錢［money］甚多。

12 王與耶何耶大將銀子交給耶和華殿裏辦事的人，他們就雇了石匠、木匠重修耶和華的殿，又雇了鐵匠、銅匠修理耶和華的殿。

13 工人操作，漸漸修成，將神殿修造得與從前一樣，而且甚是堅固。

14 工程完了，他們就把其餘的錢［money］拿到王與耶何耶大面前，用以製造耶和華殿供奉所用的器皿和調羹，並金銀的器皿。耶何耶大在世的時候，眾人常在耶和華殿裏獻燔祭。

15 耶何耶大年紀老邁，日子滿足而死；死的時候年一百三十歲。

16 人把［they］耶何耶大［him］葬在大衛城列王的墳墓裏，因為他曾［had］在以色列［Israel］中行善，又事奉神，修理他［his］的殿。

17 耶何耶大死後，猶大的眾首領來朝拜王；王就聽從他們。

18 他們離棄耶和華─他們列祖神的殿，去事奉樹叢［groves］和偶像；因他們這過犯［trespasses］，就有忿怒臨到猶大和耶路撒冷。

19 但神仍遣先知到他們那裏，引領［bring］他們歸向耶和華。這先知警戒他們，他們卻不肯聽。

20 那時，神的靈［Spirit］感動祭司耶何耶大的兒子撒迦利亞，他就站在上面對民說：「神如此說：你們為何干犯耶和華的誡命，以致不得亨通呢？因為你們離棄了［forsaken］耶和華，所以他也離棄你們。」

21 眾民同心謀害撒迦利亞，就照王的吩咐，在耶和華殿的院內用石頭打死他。

22 這樣，約阿施王不想念撒迦利亞的父親耶何耶大向自己所施的恩，殺了他的兒子。撒迦利亞臨死的時候說：「願耶和華鑒察伸冤。」

23 滿了一年，敘利亞的軍兵上來攻擊約阿施，來到猶大和耶路撒冷，殺了民中的眾首領，將所掠的財貨送到大馬士革王那裏。

Chapter 24

1 Joash3101 was seven7651 years8141 old1121 when he began to reign,4427 and he reigned4427 forty705 years8141 in Jerusalem.3389 His mother's517 name8034 also was Zibiah6645 of Beersheba.884

2 And Joash3101 did6213 that which was right3477 in the sight5869 of the LORD3068 all3605 the days3117 of Jehoiada3111 the priest.3548

3 And Jehoiada3111 took5375 for him two8147 wives;802 and he begat3205 sons1121 and daughters.1323

4 And it came1961 to pass after310 this,3651 that Joash3101 was minded5973 3820 to repair2318 the house1004 of the LORD.3068

5 And he gathered6908 together the priests3548 and the Levites,3881 and said559 to them, Go3318 out to the cities5892 of Judah,3063 and gather6908 of all3605 Israel3478 money3701 to repair2388 the house1004 of your God430 from year8141 to year,8141 and see that you hasten4116 the matter.1697 However, the Levites3881 hastened4116 it not.

6 And the king4428 called7121 for Jehoiada3111 the chief,7218 and said559 to him, Why4069 have you not required1875 of the Levites3881 to bring935 in out of Judah3063 and out of Jerusalem3389 the collection,4864 according to the commandment of Moses4872 the servant5650 of the LORD,3068 and of the congregation6951 of Israel,3478 for the tabernacle168 of witness?5715

7 For the sons1121 of Athaliah,6271 that wicked4849 woman, had broken6555 up the house1004 of God;430 and also1571 all3605 the dedicated6944 things of the house1004 of the LORD3068 did they bestow6213 on Baalim.1168

8 And at the king's4428 commandment559 they made6213 a chest,727 and set5414 it without2351 at the gate8179 of the house1004 of the LORD.3068

9 And they made5414 a proclamation6963 through Judah3063 and Jerusalem,3389 to bring935 in to the LORD3068 the collection4864 that Moses4872 the servant5650 of God430 laid on Israel3478 in the wilderness.4057

10 And all3605 the princes8269 and all3605 the people5971 rejoiced,8055 and brought935 in, and cast7993 into the chest,727 until5704 they had made an end.3615

11 Now it came1961 to pass, that at what time6256 the chest727 was brought935 to the king's4428 office6486 by the hand3027 of the Levites,3881 and when they saw7200 that there was much7227 money,3701 the king's4428 scribe5608 and the high7218 priest's3548 officer6496 came935 and emptied6168 the chest,727 and took5375 it, and carried7725 it to his place4725 again.7725 Thus3541 they did6213 day3117 by day,3117 and gathered622 money3701 in abundance.7230

12 And the king4428 and Jehoiada3111 gave5414 it to such as did6213 the work4399 of the service5656 of the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and hired7936 masons2672 and carpenters2796 to repair2318 the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and also1571 such as worked2790 iron1270 and brass5178 to mend2388 the house1004 of the LORD.3068

13 So the workmen6213 4399 worked,6213 and the work4399 was perfected5927 724 by them, and they set5975 the house1004 of God430 in his state,4971 and strengthened553 it.

14 And when they had finished3615 it, they brought935 the rest7605 of the money3701 before6440 the king4428 and Jehoiada,3111 whereof were made6213 vessels3627 for the house1004 of the LORD,3068 even vessels3627 to minister,8335 and to offer5927 with, and spoons,3709 and vessels3627 of gold2091 and silver.3701 And they offered5927 burnt5930 offerings in the house1004 of the LORD3068 continually8548 all3605 the days3117 of Jehoiada.3111

15 But Jehoiada3111 waxed old,2204 and was full7646 of days3117 when he died;4191 an hundred3967 and thirty7970 years8141 old1121 was he when he died.4194

16 And they buried6912 him in the city5892 of David1732 among5973 the kings,4428 because3588 he had done6213 good2896 in Israel,3478 both toward5973 God,430 and toward his house.1004

17 Now after310 the death4194 of Jehoiada3111 came935 the princes8269 of Judah,3063 and made obeisance7812 to the king.4428 Then the king4428 listened8085 to them.

18 And they left5800 the house1004 of the LORD3068 God430 of their fathers,1 and served5647 groves842 and idols:6091 and wrath7110 came1961 on Judah3063 and Jerusalem3389 for this2063 their trespass.819

19 Yet he sent7971 prophets5030 to them, to bring7725 them again7725 to the LORD;3068 and they testified5749 against them: but they would not give ear.238

20 And the Spirit7307 of God430 came3847 on Zechariah2148 the son1121 of Jehoiada3111 the priest,3548 which stood5975 above5921 the people,5971 and said559 to them, Thus3541 said559 God,430 Why4100 transgress5674 you the commandments4687 of the LORD,3068 that you cannot3808 prosper?6743 because3588 you have forsaken5800 the LORD,3068 he has also forsaken5800 you.

21 And they conspired7194 against5921 him, and stoned7275 him with stones68 at the commandment4687 of the king4428 in the court2691 of the house1004 of the LORD.3068

22 Thus Joash3101 the king4428 remembered2142 not the kindness2617 which834 Jehoiada3111 his father25 had done6213 to him, but slew2026 his son.1121 And when he died,4191 he said,559 The LORD3068 look7200 on it, and require1875 it.

23 And it came1961 to pass at the end8622 of the year,8141 that the host2428 of Syria758 came5927 up against5921 him: and they came935 to Judah3063 and Jerusalem,3389 and destroyed7843 all3605 the princes8269 of the people5971 from among the people,5971 and sent7971 all3605 the spoil7998 of them to the king4428 of Damascus.1834

24 For the army2428 of the Syrians758 came935 with a small4705 company1995 of men,582 and the LORD3068 delivered5414 a very3966 great7230 host2428 into their hand,3027 because3588 they had forsaken5800 the LORD3068 God430 of their fathers.1 So they executed6213 judgment8201 against Joash.3101

25 And when they were departed3212 from him, (for they left5800 him in great7227 diseases,4251) his own servants5650 conspired7194 against5921 him for the blood1818 of the sons1121 of Jehoiada3111 the priest,3548 and slew2026 him on5921 his bed,4296 and he died:4191 and they buried6912 him in the city5892 of David,1732 but they buried6912 him not in the sepulchers6913 of the kings.4428

26 And these428 are they that conspired7194 against5921 him; Zabad2066 the son1121 of Shimeath8100 an Ammonitess,5984 and Jehozabad3075 the son1121 of Shimrith8116 a Moabitess.4125

27 Now concerning his sons,1121 and the greatness7230 of the burdens4853 laid on him, and the repairing3247 of the house1004 of God,430 behold,2009 they are written3789 in the story4097 of the book5612 of the kings.4428 And Amaziah558 his son1121 reigned4427 in his stead.8478

3 And Jehoiada3111 took5375 for him two8147 wives;802 and he begat3205 sons1121 and daughters.1323

4 此後，約阿施有意重修耶和華的殿，

4 And it came1961 to pass after310 this,3651 that Joash3101 was minded5973 3820 to repair2318 the house1004 of the LORD.3068

5 他［he］便召聚眾祭司和利未人，對［said］他們說：「你們要往猶大各城去，向以色列眾人收聚錢財［gather of all Israel money］，每年可以修理你們神的殿，你們要急速辦理這事。」只是利未人不急速辦理。

5 And he gathered6908 together the priests3548 and the Levites,3881 and said559 to them, Go3318 out to the cities5892 of Judah,3063 and gather6908 of all3605 Israel3478 money3701 to repair2388 the house1004 of your God430 from year8141 to year,8141 and see that you hasten4116 the matter.1697 However, the Levites3881 hastened4116 it not.

6 王召了大祭司耶何耶大來，對他說：「從前照［according］耶和華的僕人摩西之吩咐［commandment of］，為作證［witness］的帳幕與以色列會眾所定的捐項，你為何不叫利未人照這例從猶大和耶路撒冷帶來作殿的費用呢？

7 因為那惡婦亞她利雅的眾子曾拆毀神的殿；又用耶和華殿中分別為聖的物供奉諸巴力［Baalim］。

10 眾首領和百姓都歡歡喜喜地將銀子送來，投入箱［chest］中，直到捐完。

10 And all3605 the princes8269 and all3605 the people5971 rejoiced,8055 and brought935 in, and cast7993 into the chest,727 until5704 they had made an end.3615

11 利未人見錢［money］多了，就把箱［chest］抬到王所派的司事面前，王的書記和大祭司的屬員來將箱［chest］倒空，仍放在原處。日日都是這樣，積蓄的錢［money］甚多。

11 Now it came1961 to pass, that at what time6256 the chest727 was brought935 to the king's4428 office6486 by the hand3027 of the Levites,3881 and when they saw7200 that there was much7227 money,3701 the king's4428 scribe5608 and the high7218 priest's3548 officer6496 came935 and emptied6168 the chest,727 and took5375 it, and carried7725 it to his place4725 again.7725 Thus3541 they did6213 day3117 by day,3117 and gathered622 money3701 in abundance.7230

13 工人操作，漸漸修成，將神殿修造得與從前一樣，而且甚是堅固。

13 So the workmen6213 4399 worked,6213 and the work4399 was perfected5927 724 by them, and they set5975 the house1004 of God430 in his state,4971 and strengthened553 it.

14 工程完了，他們就把其餘的錢［money］拿到王與耶何耶大面前，用以製造耶和華殿供奉所用的器皿和調羹，並金銀的器皿。耶何耶大在世的時候，眾人常在耶和華殿裏獻燔祭。

14 And when they had finished3615 it, they brought935 the rest7605 of the money3701 before6440 the king4428 and Jehoiada,3111 whereof were made6213 vessels3627 for the house1004 of the LORD,3068 even vessels3627 to minister,8335 and to offer5927 with, and spoons,3709 and vessels3627 of gold2091 and silver.3701 And they offered5927 burnt5930 offerings in the house1004 of the LORD3068 continually8548 all3605 the days3117 of Jehoiada.3111

15 耶何耶大年紀老邁，日子滿足而死；死的時候年一百三十歲。

15 But Jehoiada3111 waxed old,2204 and was full7646 of days3117 when he died;4191 an hundred3967 and thirty7970 years8141 old1121 was he when he died.4194

16 人把［they］耶何耶大［him］葬在大衛城列王的墳墓裏，因為他曾［had］在以色列［Israel］中行善，又事奉神，修理他［his］的殿。

16 And they buried6912 him in the city5892 of David1732 among5973 the kings,4428 because3588 he had done6213 good2896 in Israel,3478 both toward5973 God,430 and toward his house.1004

17 耶何耶大死後，猶大的眾首領來朝拜王；王就聽從他們。

17 Now after310 the death4194 of Jehoiada3111 came935 the princes8269 of Judah,3063 and made obeisance7812 to the king.4428 Then the king4428 listened8085 to them.

18 他們離棄耶和華─他們列祖神的殿，去事奉樹叢［groves］和偶像；因他們這過犯［trespasses］，就有忿怒臨到猶大和耶路撒冷。

18 And they left5800 the house1004 of the LORD3068 God430 of their fathers,1 and served5647 groves842 and idols:6091 and wrath7110 came1961 on Judah3063 and Jerusalem3389 for this2063 their trespass.819

19 但神仍遣先知到他們那裏，引領［bring］他們歸向耶和華。這先知警戒他們，他們卻不肯聽。

19 Yet he sent7971 prophets5030 to them, to bring7725 them again7725 to the LORD;3068 and they testified5749 against them: but they would not give ear.238

20 那時，神的靈［Spirit］感動祭司耶何耶大的兒子撒迦利亞，他就站在上面對民說：「神如此說：你們為何干犯耶和華的誡命，以致不得亨通呢？因為你們離棄了［forsaken］耶和華，所以他也離棄你們。」

21 眾民同心謀害撒迦利亞，就照王的吩咐，在耶和華殿的院內用石頭打死他。

21 And they conspired7194 against5921 him, and stoned7275 him with stones68 at the commandment4687 of the king4428 in the court2691 of the house1004 of the LORD.3068

22 這樣，約阿施王不想念撒迦利亞的父親耶何耶大向自己所施的恩，殺了他的兒子。撒迦利亞臨死的時候說：「願耶和華鑒察伸冤。」

22 Thus Joash3101 the king4428 remembered2142 not the kindness2617 which834 Jehoiada3111 his father25 had done6213 to him, but slew2026 his son.1121 And when he died,4191 he said,559 The LORD3068 look7200 on it, and require1875 it.

23 滿了一年，敘利亞的軍兵上來攻擊約阿施，來到猶大和耶路撒冷，殺了民中的眾首領，將所掠的財貨送到大馬士革王那裏。

23 And it came1961 to pass at the end8622 of the year,8141 that the host2428 of Syria758 came5927 up against5921 him: and they came935 to Judah3063 and Jerusalem,3389 and destroyed7843 all3605 the princes8269 of the people5971 from among the people,5971 and sent7971 all3605 the spoil7998 of them to the king4428 of Damascus.1834

24 敘利亞的軍兵雖來了一小隊，耶和華卻將大隊的軍兵交在他們手裏，是因猶大人離棄了［forsaken］耶和華─他們列祖的神。他們就［So they］懲罰約阿施。
