第17章

1 基列居住［inhabitants］的提斯比人以利亞對亞哈說：「我指著所事奉永生耶和華─以色列的神起誓，這幾年我若不禱告，必不降露，不下雨。」

2 耶和華的話臨到以利亞說：

3 「你離開這裏往東去，藏在約旦河東邊的基立溪旁。

4 你要喝那溪裏的水，我已吩咐烏鴉在那裏供養你。」

5 於是以利亞照著耶和華的話，去住在約旦河前［before］的基立溪旁。

6 烏鴉早晚給他帶［brought］餅和肉來，他也喝那溪裏的水。

7 過了些日子，溪水就乾了，因為雨沒有下在地上。

8 耶和華的話臨到他說：

9 「你起身往西頓的撒勒法去，住在那裏；看哪［behold］，我已吩咐那裏的一個寡婦供養你。」

10 以利亞就起身往撒勒法去。到了城門，見有一個寡婦在那裏撿柴，以利亞呼叫她說：「求你用器皿取點水來給我喝。」

11 她去取水的時候，以利亞又呼叫她說：「也求你拿點餅來給我。」

12 她說：「我指著永生耶和華─你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油；看哪［behold］，我正在找［gathering］兩根柴，我好［that I may］回家為我和我兒子作餅，好叫［that］我們吃了，就［and］死吧。」

13 以利亞對她說：「不要懼怕。可以照你所說的去作吧。只要先為我作一個小餅拿來給我，然後為你和你的兒子作餅。

14 因為耶和華─以色列的神如此說：罈內的麵必不減少，瓶裏的油必不缺短，直到耶和華使雨降在地上的日子。」

15 婦人就照以利亞的話去行。她和她家中的人，並以利亞，吃了許多日子。

16 罈內的麵果不減少，瓶裏的油也不缺短，正如耶和華藉以利亞所說的話。

17 這些［these］事以後，作那家主母的婦人，她兒子病了；病得甚重，以致身無氣息。

18 婦人對以利亞說：「神的人哪，我與你何干？你竟到我這裏來，使神想念我的罪，以致我的兒子死呢？」

19 以利亞對她說：「把你兒子交給我。」以利亞就從婦人懷中將孩子接過來，抱到他所住的樓中，放在自己的床上，

20 就呼求［cried］耶和華說：「耶和華─我的神啊，我寄居在這寡婦的家裏，你就降禍與她，使她的兒子死了嗎？」

21 以利亞三次伏在孩子的身上，呼求［cried］耶和華說：「耶和華─我的神啊，求你使這孩子的元魂［soul］仍入他的身體。」

22 耶和華聽允［heard］以利亞的話，孩子的元魂［soul］仍入他的身體，他就活了。

23 以利亞將孩子從樓上抱下來，進屋子交給他母親，說：「看哪，你的兒子活了。」

24 婦人對以利亞說：「現在我知道你是神的人，耶和華藉你口所說的話是真的。」

1 Kings

Chapter 17

1 AND Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years but according to my word.

2 And the word of the LORD came to him, saying,

3 Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook of Cherith that is before the Jordan.

4 And you shall drink from the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.

5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD; for he went and dwelt by the brook of Cherith that is before the Jordan.

6 And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.

7 But after a while the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.

8 And the word of the LORD came to him, saying,

9 Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Zidon, and dwell there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow was there gathering sticks; and he called to her and said, Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her and said, Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.

12 And she said, As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing but a handful of flour in a pot and a little oil in a cruse; and, behold, I am gathering a few sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die.

13 And Elijah said to her, Fear not; go and do as you have said; but first make a little cake and bring it to me, and afterward make for yourself and your son.

14 For thus says the LORD God of Israel, The pot of flour shall not be spent, and the cruse of oil shall not diminish, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah; and she and he and her household did eat many days.

16 And the pot of flour was not spent, neither did the cruse of oil diminish, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah.

17 And it came to pass after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore that there was no breath left in him.

18 And she said to Elijah, What have I done to you, O prophet of God? Are you come to me to call my trespasses to remembrance and to slay my son?

19 And Elijah said to her. Give me your son. And he took him from her bosom, and carried him up into the upper chamber where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

20 And he cried to the LORD and said, O LORD God, why hast thou also brought misfortune upon this widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

21 Then he stretched himself upon the boy three times and cried to the LORD and said, O LORD my God, let this boy's soul return to him again.

22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the boy returned into him again, and he revived.

23 And Elijah took the boy and brought him down from the upper chamber into the house, and delivered him to his mother; and Elijah said to her, See, your son lives.

24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now I know that you are a prophet of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth.

Chapter 17

4 And you shall drink from the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.

5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD; for he went and dwelt by the brook of Cherith that is before the Jordan.

6 烏鴉早晚給他帶［brought］餅和肉來，他也喝那溪裏的水。

6 And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.

7 過了些日子，溪水就乾了，因為雨沒有下在地上。

7 But after a while the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.

8 耶和華的話臨到他說：

8 And the word of the LORD came to him, saying,

9 「你起身往西頓的撒勒法去，住在那裏；看哪［behold］，我已吩咐那裏的一個寡婦供養你。」

9 Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Zidon, and dwell there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.

10 以利亞就起身往撒勒法去。到了城門，見有一個寡婦在那裏撿柴，以利亞呼叫她說：「求你用器皿取點水來給我喝。」

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow was there gathering sticks; and he called to her and said, Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 她去取水的時候，以利亞又呼叫她說：「也求你拿點餅來給我。」

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her and said, Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.

12 她說：「我指著永生耶和華─你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油；看哪［behold］，我正在找［gathering］兩根柴，我好［that I may］回家為我和我兒子作餅，好叫［that］我們吃了，就［and］死吧。」

12 And she said, As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing but a handful of flour in a pot and a little oil in a cruse; and, behold, I am gathering a few sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die.

13 以利亞對她說：「不要懼怕。可以照你所說的去作吧。只要先為我作一個小餅拿來給我，然後為你和你的兒子作餅。

13 And Elijah said to her, Fear not; go and do as you have said; but first make a little cake and bring it to me, and afterward make for yourself and your son.

14 因為耶和華─以色列的神如此說：罈內的麵必不減少，瓶裏的油必不缺短，直到耶和華使雨降在地上的日子。」

14 For thus says the LORD God of Israel, The pot of flour shall not be spent, and the cruse of oil shall not diminish, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.

15 婦人就照以利亞的話去行。她和她家中的人，並以利亞，吃了許多日子。

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah; and she and he and her household did eat many days.

16 And the pot of flour was not spent, neither did the cruse of oil diminish, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah.

17 這些［these］事以後，作那家主母的婦人，她兒子病了；病得甚重，以致身無氣息。

17 And it came to pass after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore that there was no breath left in him.

18 婦人對以利亞說：「神的人哪，我與你何干？你竟到我這裏來，使神想念我的罪，以致我的兒子死呢？」

18 And she said to Elijah, What have I done to you, O prophet of God? Are you come to me to call my trespasses to remembrance and to slay my son?

19 以利亞對她說：「把你兒子交給我。」以利亞就從婦人懷中將孩子接過來，抱到他所住的樓中，放在自己的床上，

19 And Elijah said to her. Give me your son. And he took him from her bosom, and carried him up into the upper chamber where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

20 就呼求［cried］耶和華說：「耶和華─我的神啊，我寄居在這寡婦的家裏，你就降禍與她，使她的兒子死了嗎？」

20 And he cried to the LORD and said, O LORD God, why hast thou also brought misfortune upon this widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

21 以利亞三次伏在孩子的身上，呼求［cried］耶和華說：「耶和華─我的神啊，求你使這孩子的元魂［soul］仍入他的身體。」

21 Then he stretched himself upon the boy three times and cried to the LORD and said, O LORD my God, let this boy's soul return to him again.

22 耶和華聽允［heard］以利亞的話，孩子的元魂［soul］仍入他的身體，他就活了。

22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the boy returned into him again, and he revived.

23 以利亞將孩子從樓上抱下來，進屋子交給他母親，說：「看哪，你的兒子活了。」

23 And Elijah took the boy and brought him down from the upper chamber into the house, and delivered him to his mother; and Elijah said to her, See, your son lives.

24 婦人對以利亞說：「現在我知道你是神的人，耶和華藉你口所說的話是真的。」

24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now I know that you are a prophet of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth.
