Chapter 19

1 AND when Jesus entered and passed through Jericho,

2 There was a man named Zacchaeus, who was rich and chief of the publicans.

3 And he wanted to see who Jesus was; but he could not because of the crowd, for Zacchaeus was small in his stature.

4 So he ran ahead of Jesus, and climbed up into a fig tree without leaves, that he might see him, because he was to pass that way.

5 When Jesus came to that place, he saw him and said to him, Make haste, come down, O Zacchaeus, for today I must remain in your house.

6 And he hastened, and came down, and welcomed him with joy.

7 Now when they all saw it, they murmured, saying, He has entered to stay in the house of a sinner.

8 But Zacchaeus rose up and said to Jesus, Behold, my Lord, half of my wealth I will give to the poor; and I will pay fourfold to every man from whom I have extorted.

9 Jesus said to him, Today life has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

10 For the Son of man came to seek and save that which was lost.

11 While they were listening to these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they were expecting that the kingdom of God would appear at that very hour;

12 And he said, A great man of a noble family went to a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and return.

13 And he called his ten servants, and gave them ten pounds, and said to them, Do business until I come back.

14 But the people of his city hated him, and sent messengers after him, saying, We do not want him to rule over us.

15 And when he received the kingdom and returned, he commanded to call his servants, to whom he had given the money, that he might know what each one of them had gained in business.

16 The first one came and said, My lord, your pound has gained ten pounds.

17 He said to him, O good servant, because you are found faithful in a little, you will have charge over ten talents. *

18 And the second came and said, My lord, your pound has gained five pounds.

19 He said to this one also, You also will have charge over five talents.

20 And another one came and said, My lord, here is your pound which was with me, which I kept laid up in a purse.

21 For I was afraid of you, because you are a harsh man; you pick up what you have not laid down, and you reap what you have not sown.

22 He said to him, I will judge you from your own mouth, O wicked servant. You knew me that I am a harsh man, and pick up what I have not laid down, and reap what I have not sown.

23 Why then did you not give my money to the exchange, so that when I came I could demand it with its interest?

24 And he said to those who stood in his presence, Take away the pound from him, and give it to him who has ten pounds.

25 They said to him, Our lord, he has already with him ten pounds.

26 He said to them, I say to you, to everyone who has shall be given; and from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away from him.

27 But those my enemies, who were not willing that I should rule over them, bring them here, and kill them before me.

28 And when Jesus had said these things, he went forward to go to Jerusalem.

29 And when he arrived at Bethphage and Bethany, on the side of the mountain which is called the Home of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

30 And he said to them, Go to the village which is in front of us; and when you enter it you will find a colt tied up, on which no man has ever ridden; untie it and bring it.

31 And if any man should ask you, Why do you untie it? tell him this: Our lord needs it.

32 And those who were sent went away, and found just as he had told them.

33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, Why do you untie the colt?

34 And they said to them, Our Lord needs it.

35 And they brought it to Jesus; and they put their garments on the colt, and they set Jesus on it.

36 And as he went on, they spread their garments on the road.

37 And when he came near to the descent of the Mount of the Home of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice, praising God with a loud voice, for all the miracles which they had seen,

38 Saying, Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest.

39 But some of the men of the Pharisees who were in the multitude said to him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples.

40 He said to them, I say to you, that if these should keep silent, the stones would cry out.

41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it;

42 And he said, If you had only known those who are concerned in your peace, even in this your day! but now they are hidden from your eyes.

43 But the days will come to you, when your enemies will surround you, and oppress you from every place,

44 And will overthrow you, and your children within you; and they will not leave in you a stone upon a stone; because you did not know the time when you were to be visited.

45 And when he entered the temple, he began to put out those who were buying and selling in it;

46 And he said to them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer; but you have made it a cave of bandits.

47 And he taught every day in the temple. But the high priests and the scribes and the elders of the people sought to get rid of him;

48 But they were not able to find what to do to him; for all the people hung around him to hear him.

3 Und2532 begehrte JEsum zu1410 sehen1492, wer5101 er2424 wäre2076, und2212 konnte nicht3756 vor dem Volk3793; denn2532 er war2258 klein3398 von575 Person2244.

4 Und2532 er305 lief vorhin und stieg auf1909 einen Maulbeerbaum4809, auf daß2443 er ihn sähe1492; denn3754 allda1565 sollte3195 er durchkommen1330.

5 Und2532 als5613 JEsus2424 kam2064 an1909 dieselbige Stätte5117, sah1492 er846 auf308 und2532 ward sein gewahr und sprach2036 zu4314 ihm846: Zachäus2195, steig eilend4692 hernieder2597; denn1063 ich3165 muß1163 heute4594 zu1722 deinem4675 Hause3624 einkehren3306.

6 Und2532 er846 stieg eilend4692 hernieder2597 und2532 nahm ihn auf5264 mit Freuden5463.

7 Da2532 sie537 das sahen1492, murreten sie alle, daß3754 er bei3844 einem Sünder268 einkehrete.

8 Zachäus2195 aber1161 trat2476 dar und2532 sprach2036 zu4314 dem5100 HErrn2962: Siehe2400, HErr2962, die Hälfte2255 meiner3450 Güter5224 gebe1325 ich den Armen4434, und so ich jemand1536 betrogen habe4811, das gebe ich vierfältig5073 wieder591.

9 JEsus2424 aber1161 sprach2036 zu4314 ihm: Heute4594 ist1096 diesem5129 Hause3624 Heil4991 widerfahren1096, sintemal2530 er846 auch2532 Abrahams11 Sohn ist2076;

10 denn1063 des Menschen444 Sohn ist2532 kommen2064, zu suchen und2212 selig zu machen4982, was verloren ist622.

11 Da2532 sie nun zuhöreten, sagte2036 er846 weiter4369 ein Gleichnis3850, darum1223 daß3754 er846 nahe bei1451 Jerusalem2419 war1511, und1161 sie meineten, das5023 Reich932 Gottes2316 sollte1380 alsbald3916 offenbart398 werden3195,

12 und3767 sprach2036: Ein5100 Edler2104 zog4198 fern in1519 ein Land5561, daß1438 er ein Reich932 einnähme2983 und2532 dann wiederkäme5290.

13 Dieser forderte2564 zehn1176 seiner846 Knechte1401 und1161 gab1325 ihnen1438 zehn1176 Pfund3414 und2532 sprach2036 zu4314 ihnen846: Handelt4231, bis2193 daß ich wiederkomme2064.

14 Seine846 Bürger4177 aber1161 waren ihm846 feind3404 und2532 schickten649 Botschaft4242 nach3694 ihm846 und ließen ihm sagen3004: Wir wollen2309 nicht3756, daß dieser5126 über1909 uns2248 herrsche936.

15 Und2532 es begab1096 sich848, da1722 er846 wiederkam1880 nachdem er das932 Reich eingenommen hatte2983, hieß er dieselbigen Knechte1401 fordern5455, welchen5101 er das3739 Geld694 gegeben1325 hatte2036, daß2443 er wüßte1097, was5101 ein jeglicher gehandelt hätte1281.

16 Da trat3854 herzu der erste4413 und1161 sprach3004: Herr2962 dein4675 Pfund3414 hat zehn1176 Pfund3414 erworben4333.

17 Und2532 er846 sprach2036 zu1722 ihm: Ei2095 du frommer18 Knecht1401! Dieweil3754 du bist im Geringsten1646 treu4103 gewesen1096, sollst du Macht2468 haben2192 über1883 zehn1176 Städte4172.

18 Der andere1208 kam2064 auch und2532 sprach3004: Herr2962, dein4675 Pfund3414 hat4160 fünf4002 Pfund3414 getragen.

19 Zu dem5129 sprach2036 er2532 auch2532: Und1161 du4771 sollst sein1096 über1883 fünf4002 Städte4172.

20 Und2532 der3739 dritte2087 kam2064 und sprach3004: Herr2962, siehe2400 da, hier ist606 dein4675 Pfund3414, welches ich habe2192 im1722 Schweißtuch4676 behalten.

21 Ich fürchtete mich5399 vor dir4571, denn1063 du bist1488 ein harter840 Mann444; du nimmst142, was3739 du nicht3756 gelegt5087 hast5087, und3754 erntest2325, was3739 du nicht2532 gesäet hart.

22 Er846 sprach3004 zu ihm: Aus1537 deinem4675 Munde4750 richte2919 ich1473 dich4571, du1492 Schalk4190! Wußtest du, daß3754 ich ein harter840 Mann444 bin1510, nehme142, was3739 ich nicht3756 geleget habe5087, und1161 ernte2325, was3739 ich nicht2532 gesäet habe5087?

23 Warum1302 hast du denn2532 mein3450 Geld694 nicht3756 in die846 Wechselbank5132 gegeben1325? und2532 wenn ich1473 kommen2064 wäre, hätte ich302‘s mit1909 Wucher erfordert4238.

24 Und2532 er846 sprach2036 zu3936 denen, die dabei stunden: Nehmet das Pfund3414 von575 ihm und gebet‘s1325 dem, der zehn1176 Pfund3414 hat2192.

25 Und2532 sie sprachen2036 zu ihm: Herr2962, hat2192 er846 doch zehn1176 Pfund3414.

26 Ich sage3004 euch5213 aber3754: Wer3956 da hat2192, dem3588 wird gegeben1325 werden; von575 dem3739 aber1161, der nicht3361 hat2192, wird auch2532 das1063 genommen142 werden, was er846 hat2192.

27 Doch4133 jene, meine3450 Feinde2190, die1565 nicht3361 wollten2309, daß3165 ich über1909 sie846 herrschen sollte936, bringet71 her5602 und2532 erwürget2695 sie vor1715 mir3450!

28 Und2532 als er305 solches5023 sagte2036, zog4198 er fort1715 und reisete hinauf gen1519 Jerusalem2414.

29 Und2532 es begab1096 sich848, als5613 er nahete gen1519 Bethphage967 und2532 Bethanien963 und kam1448 an4314 den Ölberg3735, sandte649 er seiner Jünger3101 zwei1417

30 und sprach2036: Gehet hin5217 in1519 den Markt2968, der3739 gegenüberliegt2713; und wenn ihr846 hineinkommet, werdet1210 ihr ein Füllen4454 angebunden finden2147, auf1722 welchem3739 noch nie3762 kein Mensch444 gesessen2523 ist. Löset3089 es ab und bringet71 es.

31 Und2532 so1437 euch5209 jemand5100 fragt2065; warum1302 ihr846‘s ablöset3089, so3779 sagt2046 also zu ihm846: Der HErr2962 bedarf5532 sein2192.

32 Und1161 die Gesandten gingen565 hin649 und fanden2147, wie2531 er846 ihnen gesagt hatte2036.

33 Da sie aber1161 das Füllen4454 ablöseten, sprachen2036 seine846 Herren2962 zu4314 ihnen: Warum5101 löset3089 ihr846 das Füllen4454 ab?

34 Sie846 aber1161 sprachen2036: Der HErr2962 bedarf5532 sein2192.

35 Und2532 sie846 brachten‘s71 zu4314 JEsu2424 und2532 warfen1977 ihre1438 Kleider2440 auf das Füllen4454 und setzten JEsum2424 darauf1913.

36 Da er nun hinzog4198, breiteten sie1161 ihre Kleider2440 auf1722 den Weg3598.

37 Und1161 da1448 er2235 nahe hinzukam und zog den Ölberg3735 herab2600, fing756 an4012 der ganze537 Haufe4128 seiner Jünger3101, mit Freuden GOtt2316 zu4314 loben134 mit lauter Stimme5456 über3173 alle3956 Taten1411, die3739 sie5463 gesehen1492 hatten,

38 und2532 sprachen3004: Gelobet sei2127, der da kommt2064, ein König935, in1722 dem Namen3686 des HErrn2962! Friede1515 sei im1722 Himmel3772 und Ehre1391 in1722 der Höhe5310!

39 Und2532 etliche5100 der, Pharisäer5330 im Volk3793 sprachen2036 zu575 ihm846: Meister1320, strafe2008 doch deine4675 Jünger3101!

40 Er846 antwortete611 und2532 sprach2036 zu ihnen: Ich sage3004 euch5213: Wo1437 diese3778 werden schweigen4623, so3754 werden die Steine3037 schreien2896.

41 Und2532 als5613 er846 nahe1448 hinzukam, sah1492 er die Stadt4172 an1909 und weinete über sie

42 und2532 sprach3004: Wenn1487 du1097 es wüßtest, so würdest du4675 auch bedenken zu1722 dieser5026 deiner Zeit2250, was3588 zu4314 deinem4675 Frieden1515 dienet. Aber1161 nun3568 ist‘s vor575 deinen4675 Augen3788 verborgen2928.

43 Denn2532 es wird die Zeit2250 über dich4571 kommen2240, daß3754 deine Feinde2190 werden um dich4671 und2532 deine Kinder mit dir4675 eine Wagenburg5482 schlagen4016, dich4571 belagern4033 und2532 an1909 allen Orten3840 ängsten4912

44 und2532 werden863 dich4571 schleifen1474 und2532 keinen3756 Stein3037 auf1722 dem4671 andern lassen863, darum daß du4675 nicht2532 erkannt1097 hast die3739 Zeit1909, darinnen du4671 heimgesucht1984 bist.

45 Und2532 er846 ging1525 in1519 den Tempel2411 und2532 fing756 an auszutreiben1544, die darinnen verkauften4453 und kauften59,

46 und sprach3004 zu ihnen846: Es stehet2076 geschrieben1125: Mein3450 Haus3624 ist ein Bethaus; ihr846 aber1161 habt‘s gemacht4160 zur Mördergrube4693.

47 Und2532 lehrte2258 täglich im1722 Tempel2411. Aber1161 die Hohenpriester749 und2532 Schriftgelehrten1122 und2532 die Vornehmsten4413 im Volk2992 trachteten2212 ihm nach, daß2250 sie846 ihn umbrächten622,

48 und2532 fanden2147 nicht3756, wie5101 sie846 ihm tun4160 sollten; denn1063 alles537 Volk2992 hing ihm an1582 und hörete ihn.

27 But those my enemies, who were not willing that I should rule over them, bring them here, and kill them before me.

28 And when Jesus had said these things, he went forward to go to Jerusalem.

28 Und2532 als er305 solches5023 sagte2036, zog4198 er fort1715 und reisete hinauf gen1519 Jerusalem2414.

29 And when he arrived at Bethphage and Bethany, on the side of the mountain which is called the Home of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

30 und sprach2036: Gehet hin5217 in1519 den Markt2968, der3739 gegenüberliegt2713; und wenn ihr846 hineinkommet, werdet1210 ihr ein Füllen4454 angebunden finden2147, auf1722 welchem3739 noch nie3762 kein Mensch444 gesessen2523 ist. Löset3089 es ab und bringet71 es.

31 And if any man should ask you, Why do you untie it? tell him this: Our lord needs it.

31 Und2532 so1437 euch5209 jemand5100 fragt2065; warum1302 ihr846‘s ablöset3089, so3779 sagt2046 also zu ihm846: Der HErr2962 bedarf5532 sein2192.

33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, Why do you untie the colt?

33 Da sie aber1161 das Füllen4454 ablöseten, sprachen2036 seine846 Herren2962 zu4314 ihnen: Warum5101 löset3089 ihr846 das Füllen4454 ab?

34 And they said to them, Our Lord needs it.

34 Sie846 aber1161 sprachen2036: Der HErr2962 bedarf5532 sein2192.

35 And they brought it to Jesus; and they put their garments on the colt, and they set Jesus on it.

35 Und2532 sie846 brachten‘s71 zu4314 JEsu2424 und2532 warfen1977 ihre1438 Kleider2440 auf das Füllen4454 und setzten JEsum2424 darauf1913.

36 And as he went on, they spread their garments on the road.

37 And when he came near to the descent of the Mount of the Home of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice, praising God with a loud voice, for all the miracles which they had seen,

37 Und1161 da1448 er2235 nahe hinzukam und zog den Ölberg3735 herab2600, fing756 an4012 der ganze537 Haufe4128 seiner Jünger3101, mit Freuden GOtt2316 zu4314 loben134 mit lauter Stimme5456 über3173 alle3956 Taten1411, die3739 sie5463 gesehen1492 hatten,

39 But some of the men of the Pharisees who were in the multitude said to him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples.

39 Und2532 etliche5100 der, Pharisäer5330 im Volk3793 sprachen2036 zu575 ihm846: Meister1320, strafe2008 doch deine4675 Jünger3101!

40 He said to them, I say to you, that if these should keep silent, the stones would cry out.

40 Er846 antwortete611 und2532 sprach2036 zu ihnen: Ich sage3004 euch5213: Wo1437 diese3778 werden schweigen4623, so3754 werden die Steine3037 schreien2896.

41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it;

42 And he said, If you had only known those who are concerned in your peace, even in this your day! but now they are hidden from your eyes.

42 und2532 sprach3004: Wenn1487 du1097 es wüßtest, so würdest du4675 auch bedenken zu1722 dieser5026 deiner Zeit2250, was3588 zu4314 deinem4675 Frieden1515 dienet. Aber1161 nun3568 ist‘s vor575 deinen4675 Augen3788 verborgen2928.

43 But the days will come to you, when your enemies will surround you, and oppress you from every place,

43 Denn2532 es wird die Zeit2250 über dich4571 kommen2240, daß3754 deine Feinde2190 werden um dich4671 und2532 deine Kinder mit dir4675 eine Wagenburg5482 schlagen4016, dich4571 belagern4033 und2532 an1909 allen Orten3840 ängsten4912

44 And will overthrow you, and your children within you; and they will not leave in you a stone upon a stone; because you did not know the time when you were to be visited.

44 und2532 werden863 dich4571 schleifen1474 und2532 keinen3756 Stein3037 auf1722 dem4671 andern lassen863, darum daß du4675 nicht2532 erkannt1097 hast die3739 Zeit1909, darinnen du4671 heimgesucht1984 bist.

45 And when he entered the temple, he began to put out those who were buying and selling in it;

46 und sprach3004 zu ihnen846: Es stehet2076 geschrieben1125: Mein3450 Haus3624 ist ein Bethaus; ihr846 aber1161 habt‘s gemacht4160 zur Mördergrube4693.

47 And he taught every day in the temple. But the high priests and the scribes and the elders of the people sought to get rid of him;

47 Und2532 lehrte2258 täglich im1722 Tempel2411. Aber1161 die Hohenpriester749 und2532 Schriftgelehrten1122 und2532 die Vornehmsten4413 im Volk2992 trachteten2212 ihm nach, daß2250 sie846 ihn umbrächten622,

48 But they were not able to find what to do to him; for all the people hung around him to hear him.
