2 And there was1961 a certain259 man376 of Zorah,4480 6681 of the family4480 4940 of the Danites,1839 whose name8034 was Manoah;4495 and his wife802 was barren,6135 and bore3205 not.3808

3 And the angel4397 of the LORD3068 appeared7200 unto413 the woman,802 and said559 unto413 her, Behold2009 now,4994 thou859 art barren,6135 and bearest3205 not:3808 but thou shalt conceive,2029 and bear3205 a son.1121

4 Now6258 therefore beware,8104 I pray thee,4994 and drink8354 not408 wine3196 nor strong drink,7941 and eat398 not408 any3605 unclean2931 thing:

5 For,3588 lo,2009 thou shalt conceive,2029 and bear3205 a son;1121 and no3808 razor4177 shall come5927 on5921 his head:7218 for3588 the child5288 shall be1961 a Nazarite5139 unto God430 from4480 the womb:990 and he1931 shall begin2490 to deliver3467 853 Israel3478 out of the hand4480 3027 of the Philistines.6430

6 Then the woman802 came935 and told559 her husband,376 saying,559 A man376 of God430 came935 unto413 me, and his countenance4758 was like the countenance4758 of an angel4397 of God,430 very3966 terrible:3372 but I asked7592 him not3808 whence335 4480 2088 he1931 was, neither3808 told5046 he me his name: 8034

7 But he said559 unto me, Behold,2009 thou shalt conceive,2029 and bear3205 a son;1121 and now6258 drink8354 no408 wine3196 nor strong drink,7941 neither408 eat398 any3605 unclean2932 thing: for3588 the child5288 shall be1961 a Nazarite5139 to God430 from4480 the womb990 to5704 the day3117 of his death.4194

8 Then Manoah4495 entreated6279 413 the LORD,3068 and said,559 O994 my Lord,136 let the man376 of God430 which834 thou didst send7971 come935 again5750 unto413 us, and teach3384 us what4100 we shall do6213 unto the child5288 that shall be born.3205

9 And God430 hearkened8085 to the voice6963 of Manoah;4495 and the angel4397 of God430 came935 again5750 unto413 the woman802 as she1931 sat3427 in the field:7704 but Manoah4495 her husband376 was not369 with5973 her.

10 And the woman802 made haste,4116 and ran,7323 and showed5046 her husband,376 and said559 unto413 him, Behold,2009 the man376 hath appeared7200 unto413 me, that834 came935 unto413 me the other day.3117

11 And Manoah4495 arose,6965 and went1980 after310 his wife,802 and came935 to413 the man,376 and said559 unto him, Art thou859 the man376 that834 spakest1696 unto413 the woman?802 And he said,559 I589 am.

12 And Manoah4495 said,559 Now6258 let thy words1697 come to pass.935 How4100 shall we order1961 4941 the child,5288 and how shall we do4639 unto him?

13 And the angel4397 of the LORD3068 said559 unto413 Manoah,4495 Of all4480 3605 that834 I said559 unto413 the woman802 let her beware.8104

14 She may not3808 eat398 of any4480 3605 thing that834 cometh3318 of the vine,4480 1612 neither408 let her drink8354 wine3196 or strong drink,7941 nor408 eat398 any3605 unclean2932 thing: all3605 that834 I commanded6680 her let her observe.8104

15 And Manoah4495 said559 unto413 the angel4397 of the LORD,3068 I pray thee,4994 let us detain6113 thee, until we shall have made ready6213 a kid1423 5795 for6440 thee.

16 And the angel4397 of the LORD3068 said559 unto413 Manoah,4495 Though518 thou detain6113 me, I will not3808 eat398 of thy bread:3899 and if518 thou wilt offer6213 a burnt offering,5930 thou must offer5927 it unto the LORD.3068 For3588 Manoah4495 knew3045 not3808 that3588 he1931 was an angel4397 of the LORD.3068

17 And Manoah4495 said559 unto413 the angel4397 of the LORD,3068 What4310 is thy name,8034 that when3588 thy sayings1697 come to pass935 we may do thee honor?3513

18 And the angel4397 of the LORD3068 said559 unto him, Why4100 askest7592 thou thus2088 after my name,8034 seeing it1931 is secret?6383

19 So Manoah4495 took3947 853 a kid1423 5795 with854 a meat offering,4503 and offered5927 it upon5921 a rock6697 unto the LORD:3068 and the angel did6213 wondrously;6381 and Manoah4495 and his wife802 looked on.7200

20 For it came to pass,1961 when the flame3851 went up5927 toward heaven8064 from off4480 5921 the altar,4196 that the angel4397 of the LORD3068 ascended5927 in the flame3851 of the altar.4196 And Manoah4495 and his wife802 looked on7200 it, and fell5307 on5921 their faces6440 to the ground.776

21 But the angel4397 of the LORD3068 did no3808 more3254 appear7200 to413 Manoah4495 and to413 his wife.802 Then227 Manoah4495 knew3045 that3588 he1931 was an angel4397 of the LORD.3068

22 And Manoah4495 said559 unto413 his wife,802 We shall surely die,4191 4191 because3588 we have seen7200 God.430

23 But his wife802 said559 unto him, If3863 the LORD3068 were pleased2654 to kill4191 us, he would not3808 have received3947 a burnt offering5930 and a meat offering4503 at our hands,4480 3027 neither3808 would he have showed7200 us853 all3605 these428 things, nor3808 would as at this time6256 have told8085 us such things as these.2063

24 And the woman802 bore3205 a son,1121 and called7121 853 his name8034 Samson:8123 and the child5288 grew,1431 and the LORD3068 blessed1288 him.

25 And the Spirit7307 of the LORD3068 began2490 to move6470 him at times in the camp4264 of Dan1835 between996 Zorah6881 and Eshtaol.847
