Chapter 13

1 Now1161 before4253 the feast1859 of the passover,3957 when Jesus2424 knew1492 that his hour5610 was come2064 that he should depart3327 out of this5127 world2889 to the Father,3962 having loved25 his own2398 which3588 were in the world,2889 he loved25 them to the end.5056

2 And supper1173 being ended,1096 the devil1228 having now2235 put906 into1519 the heart2588 of Judas2455 Iscariot,2469 Simon's4613 son, to betray3860 him;

3 Jesus2424 knowing1492 that the Father3962 had given1325 all3956 things into1519 his hands,5495 and that he was come1831 from God,2316 and went5217 to God;2316

4 He rises1453 from supper,1173 and laid5087 aside5087 his garments;2440 and took2983 a towel,3012 and girded1241 himself.1438

5 After1534 that he pours906 water5204 into1519 a basin,3537 and began756 to wash3538 the disciples'3101 feet,4228 and to wipe1591 them with the towel3012 with which3739 he was girded.1241

6 Then3767 comes2064 he to Simon4613 Peter:4074 and Peter said3004 to him, Lord,2962 do you wash3538 my feet?4228

7 Jesus2424 answered611 and said2036 to him, What3739 I do4160 you know1492 not now;737 but you shall know1097 hereafter.3326 5028

8 Peter4074 said3004 to him, You shall never3364 1519 165 wash3538 my feet.4228 Jesus2424 answered611 him, If1437 I wash3538 you not, you have2192 no3756 part3313 with3326 me.1700

9 Simon4613 Peter4074 said3004 to him, Lord,2962 not my feet4228 only,3440 but also2532 my hands5495 and my head.2776

10 Jesus2424 said3004 to him, He that is washed3068 needs2192 5532 not save2228 to wash3538 his feet,4228 but is clean2513 every3650 whit:3650 and you are clean,2513 but not all.3956

11 For he knew1492 who3588 should betray3860 him; therefore1223 5124 said2036 he, You are not all3956 clean.2513

12 So3767 after3753 he had washed3538 their feet,4228 and had taken2983 his garments,2440 and was set377 down377 again,3825 he said2036 to them, Know1097 you what5101 I have done4160 to you?

13 You call5455 me Master1320 and Lord:2962 and you say3004 well;2573 for so I am.1510

14 If1487 I then,3767 your3588 Lord2962 and Master,1320 have washed3538 your5216 feet;4228 you also2532 ought3784 to wash3538 one240 another's240 feet.4228

15 For I have given1325 you an example,5262 that you should do4160 as I have done4160 to you.

16 Truly,281 truly,281 I say3004 to you, The servant1401 is not greater3187 than his lord;2962 neither3761 he that is sent652 greater3187 than he that sent652 him.

17 If1487 you know1492 these5023 things, happy3107 are you if1437 you do4160 them.

18 I speak3004 not of you all:3956 I know1492 whom3739 I have chosen:1586 but that the scripture1124 may be fulfilled,4137 He that eats5176 bread740 with me has lifted1869 up his heel4418 against1519 me.

19 Now737 I tell3004 you before4253 it come,1096 that, when3752 it is come1096 to pass, you may believe4100 that I am1510 he.

20 Truly,281 truly,281 I say3004 to you, He that receives2983 whomsoever1437 5100 I send3992 receives2983 me; and he that receives2983 me receives2983 him that sent3992 me.

21 When Jesus2424 had thus5023 said,2036 he was troubled5015 in spirit,4151 and testified,3140 and said,2036 Truly,281 truly,281 I say3004 to you, that one1520 of you shall betray3860 me.

22 Then3767 the disciples3101 looked991 one240 on1519 another,240 doubting639 of whom5101 he spoke.3004

23 Now1161 there was leaning345 on1722 Jesus'2424 bosom2859 one1520 of his disciples,3101 whom3739 Jesus2424 loved.25

24 Simon4613 Peter4074 therefore3767 beckoned3506 to him, that he should ask4441 who5101 it should be of whom3739 he spoke.3004

25 He then1161 lying1968 on1909 Jesus'2424 breast4738 said3004 to him, Lord,2962 who5101 is it?

26 Jesus2424 answered,611 He it is, to whom3739 I shall give1929 a sop,5596 when I have dipped911 it. And when3753 he had dipped1686 the sop,5596 he gave1325 it to Judas2455 Iscariot,2469 the son of Simon.4613

27 And after3326 the sop5596 Satan4567 entered1525 into1519 him. Then3767 said3004 Jesus2424 to him, That you do,4160 do4160 quickly.5032

28 Now1161 no3762 man3762 at345 the table345 knew1097 for what5101 intent he spoke2036 this5124 to him.

29 For some5100 of them thought,1380 because1893 Judas2455 had2192 the bag,1101 that Jesus2424 had said3004 to him, Buy59 those things that we have2192 need5532 of against the feast;1859 or,2228 that he should give1325 something5100 to the poor.4434

30 He then3767 having received2983 the sop5596 went1831 immediately2112 out: and it was night.3571

31 Therefore,3767 when3753 he was gone1831 out, Jesus2424 said,3004 Now3568 is the Son5207 of man444 glorified,1392 and God2316 is glorified1392 in him.

32 If1487 God2316 be glorified1392 in him, God2316 shall also2532 glorify1392 him in himself,1438 and shall straightway2117 glorify1392 him.

33 Little5040 children,5040 yet2089 a little3397 while I am1510 with you. You shall seek2212 me: and as I said2036 to the Jews,2453 Where3699 I go,5217 you cannot3756 1410 come;2064 so2532 now737 I say3004 to you.

34 A new2537 commandment1785 I give1325 to you, That you love25 one240 another;240 as I have loved25 you, that you also2532 love25 one240 another.240

35 By this5129 shall all3956 men know1097 that you are my disciples,3101 if1437 you have2192 love26 one240 to another.240

36 Simon4613 Peter4074 said3004 to him, Lord,2962 where4226 go5217 you? Jesus2424 answered611 him, Where3699 I go,5217 you can1410 not follow190 me now;3568 but you shall follow190 me afterwards.5305

37 Peter4074 said3004 to him, Lord,2962 why1302 cannot3756 1410 I follow190 you now?737 I will lay5087 down my life5590 for your sake.

38 Jesus2424 answered611 him, Will you lay5087 down your life5590 for my sake? Truly,281 truly,281 I say3004 to you, The cock220 shall not crow,5455 till2193 you have denied533 me thrice.5151

Chapter 13

1 NOW before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew the hour had come to depart from this world to his Father. And he loved his own who were in this world, and he loved them unto the end.

2 During supper, Satan put into the heart of Judas, son of Simon of Iscariot, to deliver him.

3 But Jesus, because he knew that the Father had given everything into his hands, and that he came from God, and was going to God,

4 He rose from supper and laid aside his robes; and he took an apron and tied it around his loins.

5 Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe them with the apron which was tied around his loins.

6 When he came to Simon Peter, Simon said to him, You, my Lord, are you going to wash my feet?

7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I am doing, you do not know now, but later you will understand.

8 Then Simon Peter said to him, You will never wash my feet. Jesus said to him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with me.

9 Simon Peter said to him, Then, my Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.

10 Jesus said to him, He who has bathed does not need except to wash his feet only, for he is already all clean; so you are all clean, but not everyone of you.

11 For Jesus knew him who was to betray him; therefore he said, Not everyone of you is clean.

12 When he had washed their feet, he put on his robes and sat down; and he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?

13 You call me, our Teacher and our Lord; and what you say is well, for I am.

14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, how much more should you wash one another's feet?

15 For I have given you this as an example, so that just as I have done to you, you should also do.

16 Truly, truly, I say to you, There is no servant who is greater than his master; and no apostle who is greater than he who sent him.

17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

18 I do not say this concerning all of you, for I know those whom I have chosen; but that the scripture might be fulfilled, He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.

19 I tell you now before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.

20 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who receives him whom I send, receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me.

21 Jesus said these things, and he was disturbed in spirit, and testified and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.

22 The disciples then looked at each other, because they did not know concerning whom he spoke.

23 Now there was one of his disciples who was leaning on his bosom, the one whom Jesus loved.

24 Simon Peter winked at to him, to ask him of whom he spoke.

25 So that disciple leaned himself on the breast of Jesus, and said to him, My Lord, who is he?

26 Jesus answered and said, The one for whom I dip bread and give to him. So Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon of Iscariot.

27 And after the bread, Satan took possession of him. So Jesus said to him, What you are going to do, do it soon.

28 But no man of those who were sitting at the table understood what he said to him.

29 For some of them thought, because the purse was with Judas, that he ordered him to buy what was needed for the feast; or to give something to the poor.

30 Judas then received the bread and went outside immediately; it was night when he went out.

31 Jesus then said, Now the Son of man is glorified, and God is glorified by him.

32 If God is glorified by him, God will also glorify him by himself, and he will glorify him at once.

33 My sons, I am with you yet a little while, and you will want me. And just as I said to the Jews, Where I go you cannot come; so now I tell you also.

34 A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

35 By this every man shall know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

36 Simon Peter said to him, Our Lord, where are you going? Jesus answered and said to him, Where I go, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.

37 Simon Peter said to him, My Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will even lay down my life for you.

38 Jesus said to him, Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, The cock shall not crow, until you have denied me three times.

1 NOW before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew the hour had come to depart from this world to his Father. And he loved his own who were in this world, and he loved them unto the end.

2 And supper1173 being ended,1096 the devil1228 having now2235 put906 into1519 the heart2588 of Judas2455 Iscariot,2469 Simon's4613 son, to betray3860 him;

4 He rose from supper and laid aside his robes; and he took an apron and tied it around his loins.

5 After1534 that he pours906 water5204 into1519 a basin,3537 and began756 to wash3538 the disciples'3101 feet,4228 and to wipe1591 them with the towel3012 with which3739 he was girded.1241

5 Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe them with the apron which was tied around his loins.

6 Then3767 comes2064 he to Simon4613 Peter:4074 and Peter said3004 to him, Lord,2962 do you wash3538 my feet?4228

6 When he came to Simon Peter, Simon said to him, You, my Lord, are you going to wash my feet?

7 Jesus2424 answered611 and said2036 to him, What3739 I do4160 you know1492 not now;737 but you shall know1097 hereafter.3326 5028

7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I am doing, you do not know now, but later you will understand.

8 Peter4074 said3004 to him, You shall never3364 1519 165 wash3538 my feet.4228 Jesus2424 answered611 him, If1437 I wash3538 you not, you have2192 no3756 part3313 with3326 me.1700

8 Then Simon Peter said to him, You will never wash my feet. Jesus said to him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with me.

9 Simon4613 Peter4074 said3004 to him, Lord,2962 not my feet4228 only,3440 but also2532 my hands5495 and my head.2776

9 Simon Peter said to him, Then, my Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.

10 Jesus2424 said3004 to him, He that is washed3068 needs2192 5532 not save2228 to wash3538 his feet,4228 but is clean2513 every3650 whit:3650 and you are clean,2513 but not all.3956

10 Jesus said to him, He who has bathed does not need except to wash his feet only, for he is already all clean; so you are all clean, but not everyone of you.

11 For he knew1492 who3588 should betray3860 him; therefore1223 5124 said2036 he, You are not all3956 clean.2513

11 For Jesus knew him who was to betray him; therefore he said, Not everyone of you is clean.

12 So3767 after3753 he had washed3538 their feet,4228 and had taken2983 his garments,2440 and was set377 down377 again,3825 he said2036 to them, Know1097 you what5101 I have done4160 to you?

12 When he had washed their feet, he put on his robes and sat down; and he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?

13 You call5455 me Master1320 and Lord:2962 and you say3004 well;2573 for so I am.1510

13 You call me, our Teacher and our Lord; and what you say is well, for I am.

14 If1487 I then,3767 your3588 Lord2962 and Master,1320 have washed3538 your5216 feet;4228 you also2532 ought3784 to wash3538 one240 another's240 feet.4228

14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, how much more should you wash one another's feet?

15 For I have given1325 you an example,5262 that you should do4160 as I have done4160 to you.

15 For I have given you this as an example, so that just as I have done to you, you should also do.

16 Truly,281 truly,281 I say3004 to you, The servant1401 is not greater3187 than his lord;2962 neither3761 he that is sent652 greater3187 than he that sent652 him.

16 Truly, truly, I say to you, There is no servant who is greater than his master; and no apostle who is greater than he who sent him.

17 If1487 you know1492 these5023 things, happy3107 are you if1437 you do4160 them.

17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

18 I speak3004 not of you all:3956 I know1492 whom3739 I have chosen:1586 but that the scripture1124 may be fulfilled,4137 He that eats5176 bread740 with me has lifted1869 up his heel4418 against1519 me.

18 I do not say this concerning all of you, for I know those whom I have chosen; but that the scripture might be fulfilled, He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.

19 Now737 I tell3004 you before4253 it come,1096 that, when3752 it is come1096 to pass, you may believe4100 that I am1510 he.

19 I tell you now before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.

20 Truly,281 truly,281 I say3004 to you, He that receives2983 whomsoever1437 5100 I send3992 receives2983 me; and he that receives2983 me receives2983 him that sent3992 me.

20 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who receives him whom I send, receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me.

21 When Jesus2424 had thus5023 said,2036 he was troubled5015 in spirit,4151 and testified,3140 and said,2036 Truly,281 truly,281 I say3004 to you, that one1520 of you shall betray3860 me.

21 Jesus said these things, and he was disturbed in spirit, and testified and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.

22 Then3767 the disciples3101 looked991 one240 on1519 another,240 doubting639 of whom5101 he spoke.3004

22 The disciples then looked at each other, because they did not know concerning whom he spoke.

23 Now1161 there was leaning345 on1722 Jesus'2424 bosom2859 one1520 of his disciples,3101 whom3739 Jesus2424 loved.25

23 Now there was one of his disciples who was leaning on his bosom, the one whom Jesus loved.

24 Simon4613 Peter4074 therefore3767 beckoned3506 to him, that he should ask4441 who5101 it should be of whom3739 he spoke.3004

24 Simon Peter winked at to him, to ask him of whom he spoke.

25 He then1161 lying1968 on1909 Jesus'2424 breast4738 said3004 to him, Lord,2962 who5101 is it?

25 So that disciple leaned himself on the breast of Jesus, and said to him, My Lord, who is he?

26 Jesus2424 answered,611 He it is, to whom3739 I shall give1929 a sop,5596 when I have dipped911 it. And when3753 he had dipped1686 the sop,5596 he gave1325 it to Judas2455 Iscariot,2469 the son of Simon.4613

26 Jesus answered and said, The one for whom I dip bread and give to him. So Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon of Iscariot.

27 And after3326 the sop5596 Satan4567 entered1525 into1519 him. Then3767 said3004 Jesus2424 to him, That you do,4160 do4160 quickly.5032

27 And after the bread, Satan took possession of him. So Jesus said to him, What you are going to do, do it soon.

28 Now1161 no3762 man3762 at345 the table345 knew1097 for what5101 intent he spoke2036 this5124 to him.

28 But no man of those who were sitting at the table understood what he said to him.

29 For some of them thought, because the purse was with Judas, that he ordered him to buy what was needed for the feast; or to give something to the poor.

30 He then3767 having received2983 the sop5596 went1831 immediately2112 out: and it was night.3571

30 Judas then received the bread and went outside immediately; it was night when he went out.

31 Therefore,3767 when3753 he was gone1831 out, Jesus2424 said,3004 Now3568 is the Son5207 of man444 glorified,1392 and God2316 is glorified1392 in him.

31 Jesus then said, Now the Son of man is glorified, and God is glorified by him.

32 If1487 God2316 be glorified1392 in him, God2316 shall also2532 glorify1392 him in himself,1438 and shall straightway2117 glorify1392 him.

32 If God is glorified by him, God will also glorify him by himself, and he will glorify him at once.

33 Little5040 children,5040 yet2089 a little3397 while I am1510 with you. You shall seek2212 me: and as I said2036 to the Jews,2453 Where3699 I go,5217 you cannot3756 1410 come;2064 so2532 now737 I say3004 to you.

33 My sons, I am with you yet a little while, and you will want me. And just as I said to the Jews, Where I go you cannot come; so now I tell you also.

34 A new2537 commandment1785 I give1325 to you, That you love25 one240 another;240 as I have loved25 you, that you also2532 love25 one240 another.240

34 A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

35 By this5129 shall all3956 men know1097 that you are my disciples,3101 if1437 you have2192 love26 one240 to another.240

35 By this every man shall know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

36 Simon4613 Peter4074 said3004 to him, Lord,2962 where4226 go5217 you? Jesus2424 answered611 him, Where3699 I go,5217 you can1410 not follow190 me now;3568 but you shall follow190 me afterwards.5305

36 Simon Peter said to him, Our Lord, where are you going? Jesus answered and said to him, Where I go, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.

37 Peter4074 said3004 to him, Lord,2962 why1302 cannot3756 1410 I follow190 you now?737 I will lay5087 down my life5590 for your sake.

37 Simon Peter said to him, My Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will even lay down my life for you.

38 Jesus2424 answered611 him, Will you lay5087 down your life5590 for my sake? Truly,281 truly,281 I say3004 to you, The cock220 shall not crow,5455 till2193 you have denied533 me thrice.5151

38 Jesus said to him, Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, The cock shall not crow, until you have denied me three times.
