提摩太前書

第3章

1 欲爲會督、慕善職也、誠哉是言、

2 督者當無間然、惟一其妻、謹慎廉節、守己以正、柔遠人、善施教、

3 不酗不競、非義之利勿取、必寬裕温良、務絕貪婪、

4 理以齊家、嚴以教子、

5 家不克齊、焉能理上帝會乎、

6 甫入教者、未可爲督、恐自衒與魔鬼同刑、

7 會以外、督宜有令聞、恐遭擯斥、而罹魔鬼之網、

8 會之執事、亦當嚴正、勿二言、勿嗜酒、勿取非義之利、

9 清心守主之妙理、

10 若此者必先試之、無間然而後可爲執事、

11 會中之婦亦當嚴正、勿興謠諑、謹事而信、

12 會之執事、惟一其妻、善齊家教子、

13 善爲會執事、可得上爵、侃侃言基督耶穌道、

14 我望速至爾、恐或濡滯、故遺爾以書、

15 使知所當爲於上帝宮、卽眞理之柱石、永生上帝會、

16 敬主之道、至大至妙、無不以爲然、上帝假人身而顯著、稱義於聖神、見於天使、聞於異邦、信於天下、而躋光明之域。

Chapter 3

4 One that rules4291 well2573 his own2398 house,3624 having2192 his children5043 in subjection5292 with all3956 gravity;4587

5 (For if1487 a man5100 know1492 not how to rule4291 his own2398 house,3624 how4459 shall he take care1959 of the church1577 of God?2316)

6 Not a novice,3504 lest2443 3361 being lifted5187 up with pride5187 he fall1706 into1519 the condemnation2917 of the devil.1228

7 Moreover1161 he must1163 have2192 a good2570 report3141 of them which are without;1855 lest2443 3361 he fall into1519 reproach3680 and the snare3803 of the devil.1228

8 Likewise5615 must the deacons1249 be grave,4586 not double-tongued,1351 not given4337 to much4183 wine,3631 not greedy146 of filthy lucre;146

9 Holding2192 the mystery3466 of the faith4102 in a pure2513 conscience.4893

10 And let these3778 also2532 first4412 be proved;1381 then1534 let them use the office1247 of a deacon,1247 being5607 found blameless.410

11 Even5615 so5615 must their wives1135 be grave,4586 not slanderers,1228 sober,3524 faithful4103 in all3956 things.
