出埃及記

第20章

1 神曉諭［spake］這一切的話說：

2 「我是耶和華─你的神，曾將你從埃及地為奴之家領出來。

3 「除了我以外，你不可有別的眾神。

4 「你別為自己作甚麼雕刻的像［Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image］，也不可作甚麼形像彷彿上天、下地，和地底下、水中的百物。

5 你不可［Thou shalt not］跪拜那些像，也不可事奉它們［them］。因為我耶和華─你的神是忌邪的神。恨我的，我必追討他們［them］的罪，自父及子，直到三四代；

6 愛我、守我誡命的，我必向他們發慈愛，直到千代。

7 「你不可［Thou shalt not］妄稱耶和華─你神的名；因為妄稱耶和華名的，耶和華必不以他為無罪。

8 「當記念安息日，守為聖日。

9 六日要勞碌作你一切的工，

10 但第七天是向耶和華─你神當守的安息日；這一日你和你的兒女、僕婢、牲畜，並你城門［gates］裏的外人［stranger］，無論何工都不可作；

11 因為六日之內，耶和華造天、地、海，和其中的一切［all］，第七天便安息，所以耶和華賜福與安息日，定為聖日。

12 「當孝敬父母，使你的日子在耶和華─你神所賜你的地上得以長久。

13 「你不可［Thou shalt not］殺人。

14 「你不可［Thou shalt not］姦淫。

15 「你不可［Thou shalt not］偷盜。

16 「你不可［Thou shalt not］作假見證陷害鄰居［neighour］。

17 「你不可［Thou shalt not］貪戀鄰居的［neighour's］房屋；也不可貪戀鄰居的［neighour's］妻子、僕婢、牛驢，並鄰居［neighour's］一切所有的。」

18 眾百姓見雷轟、閃電、號［trumpet］聲、山上冒煙；眾百姓既看見［when the people saw it］，就都遷移［removed］，遠遠的站立。

19 對摩西說：「求你和我們說話，我們必聽；不要神和我們說話，恐怕我們死亡。」

20 摩西對百姓說：「不要懼怕；因為神降臨是要試驗你們，叫你們時常敬畏他，不致犯罪。」

21 於是百姓遠遠地站立；摩西就挨近神所在的幽暗之中。

22 耶和華對摩西說：「你要向以色列人這樣說：『你們自己看見我從天上和你們說話了。

23 你們不可作甚麼神像與我相配，不可為自己作金銀的神像。

24 你要為我築土壇，在上面以牛羊獻為燔祭和平安祭。凡記下我名的地方，我必到那裏賜福給你。

25 你若為我築一座石壇，不可用鑿成的石頭，因你在上頭一動家具，就把壇污穢了。

26 你上我的壇，不可用臺階，免得露出你的裸體［nakedness］來』」。

Chapter 20

1 AND God spoke all these words, saying,

2 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 You shall have no other gods except me.

4 You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth;

5 You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I the LORD your God am a zealous God, visiting the offenses of the fathers upon their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me;

6 And showing mercy to thousands of generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 You shall not take a false oath in the name of the LORD your God; for the LORD will not declare him innocent who takes an oath in his name falsely.

8 Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy.

9 Six days shall you labor and do all your work;

10 But the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor the sojourner who dwells in your towns;

11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the seas, and all things that are in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it.

12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.

13 You shall not kill.

14 You shall not commit adultery.

15 You shall not steal.

16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

17 You shall not covet your neighbor's house, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is your neighbor's.

18 And all the people observed the thunderings and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw all of this, they were afraid and they stood afar off.

19 And they said to Moses, You speak to us, and we will listen; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20 And Moses said to the people, Fear not; for God is come to prove you, that his worship may be before your faces, and that you may not sin.

21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.

22 And the LORD said to Moses, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, You have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 You shall not make for yourselves gods of gold to be worshipped along with me, neither shall you make for yourselves gods of silver.

24 An altar of earth shall you make to me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I shall make a memorial to my name I will come to you and I will bless you.

25 And if you make me a stone altar, you shall not build it of hewn stones; for if you lift a tool of iron upon it, you will have polluted it.

26 Neither shall you go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness be not exposed on it.

1 神曉諭［spake］這一切的話說：

1 AND God spoke all these words, saying,

2 「我是耶和華─你的神，曾將你從埃及地為奴之家領出來。

2 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 「除了我以外，你不可有別的眾神。

3 You shall have no other gods except me.

4 「你別為自己作甚麼雕刻的像［Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image］，也不可作甚麼形像彷彿上天、下地，和地底下、水中的百物。

4 You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth;

5 你不可［Thou shalt not］跪拜那些像，也不可事奉它們［them］。因為我耶和華─你的神是忌邪的神。恨我的，我必追討他們［them］的罪，自父及子，直到三四代；

5 You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I the LORD your God am a zealous God, visiting the offenses of the fathers upon their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me;

6 愛我、守我誡命的，我必向他們發慈愛，直到千代。

6 And showing mercy to thousands of generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

8 Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy.

9 六日要勞碌作你一切的工，

9 Six days shall you labor and do all your work;

10 但第七天是向耶和華─你神當守的安息日；這一日你和你的兒女、僕婢、牲畜，並你城門［gates］裏的外人［stranger］，無論何工都不可作；

10 But the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor the sojourner who dwells in your towns;

11 因為六日之內，耶和華造天、地、海，和其中的一切［all］，第七天便安息，所以耶和華賜福與安息日，定為聖日。

11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the seas, and all things that are in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it.

12 「當孝敬父母，使你的日子在耶和華─你神所賜你的地上得以長久。

12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.

13 「你不可［Thou shalt not］殺人。

13 You shall not kill.

14 「你不可［Thou shalt not］姦淫。

14 You shall not commit adultery.

15 「你不可［Thou shalt not］偷盜。

15 You shall not steal.

16 「你不可［Thou shalt not］作假見證陷害鄰居［neighour］。

16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

17 You shall not covet your neighbor's house, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is your neighbor's.

18 眾百姓見雷轟、閃電、號［trumpet］聲、山上冒煙；眾百姓既看見［when the people saw it］，就都遷移［removed］，遠遠的站立。

18 And all the people observed the thunderings and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw all of this, they were afraid and they stood afar off.

19 對摩西說：「求你和我們說話，我們必聽；不要神和我們說話，恐怕我們死亡。」

19 And they said to Moses, You speak to us, and we will listen; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20 摩西對百姓說：「不要懼怕；因為神降臨是要試驗你們，叫你們時常敬畏他，不致犯罪。」

20 And Moses said to the people, Fear not; for God is come to prove you, that his worship may be before your faces, and that you may not sin.

21 於是百姓遠遠地站立；摩西就挨近神所在的幽暗之中。

21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.

22 耶和華對摩西說：「你要向以色列人這樣說：『你們自己看見我從天上和你們說話了。

22 And the LORD said to Moses, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, You have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 You shall not make for yourselves gods of gold to be worshipped along with me, neither shall you make for yourselves gods of silver.

24 An altar of earth shall you make to me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I shall make a memorial to my name I will come to you and I will bless you.

25 你若為我築一座石壇，不可用鑿成的石頭，因你在上頭一動家具，就把壇污穢了。

25 And if you make me a stone altar, you shall not build it of hewn stones; for if you lift a tool of iron upon it, you will have polluted it.

26 你上我的壇，不可用臺階，免得露出你的裸體［nakedness］來』」。

26 Neither shall you go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness be not exposed on it.
