2 保羅被提了來,帖土羅就告他說:「腓力斯大人,我們因你得以大享太平,並且這一國因著你的先見,作了甚大的貢獻[and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence]

[We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.]

6 連聖殿他也想要污穢;我們把他捉住了,要按我們的律法審問[and would have judged according to our law]

[But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,]

[Commanding his accusers to come unto thee],你自己究問他,就可以知道我們告他的一切事了。」

10 巡撫示意[beckoned]叫保羅說話,他就回答[answer]說:「我知道你在這國裏斷事多年,所以我樂意為自己分訴;

22 腓力斯聽見這些事[heard these things],本是詳細曉得這道,就支吾他們說:「且等軍長[chief captain]呂西亞下來,我要徹查[know the uttermost of]你們的事。」

26 腓力斯又盼望[hoped]保羅為得釋放而[that he might loose him]送他錢財[money];所以屢次叫他來,和他談論。

1 And after3326 five4002 days2250 Ananias367 the high749 priest749 descended2597 with the elders,4245 and with a certain5100 orator4489 named Tertullus,5061 who3748 informed1718 the governor2232 against2596 Paul.3972

2 And when he was called2564 forth,2564 Tertullus5061 began756 to accuse2723 him, saying,3004 Seeing that by you we enjoy5177 great4183 quietness,1515 and that very2735 worthy2735 deeds2735 are done1096 to this5129 nation1484 by your providence,4307

3 We accept588 it always,3839 and in all3837 places,3837 most2903 noble2903 Felix,5344 with all3956 thankfulness.2169

4 Notwithstanding, that I be not further1909 4118 tedious1465 to you, I pray3870 you that you would hear191 us of your clemency1932 a few4935 words.

5 For we have found2147 this5126 man435 a pestilent3061 fellow, and a mover2795 of sedition4714 among all3956 the Jews2453 throughout2596 the world,3625 and a ringleader4414 of the sect139 of the Nazarenes:3480

6 Who3739 also2532 has gone3985 about3985 to profane953 the temple:2411 whom3739 we took,2902 and would2309 have judged2919 according2596 to our law.3551

7 But the chief5506 captain5506 Lysias3079 came3928 on us, and with great4183 violence970 took520 him away520 out of our hands,5495

8 Commanding2753 his accusers2725 to come2064 to you: by examining350 of whom3739 yourself846 may take knowledge1921 of all3956 these5130 things, whereof3739 we accuse2723 him.

9 And the Jews2453 also2532 assented,4934 saying5335 that these5023 things were so.3779

10 Then1161 Paul,3972 after that the governor2232 had beckoned3506 to him to speak,3004 answered,611 For as much as I know1987 that you have been5607 of many4183 years2094 a judge2923 to this5129 nation,1484 I do the more2115 cheerfully2115 answer626 for myself:1683

11 Because that you may understand,1097 that there are yet but twelve1177 days2250 since575 3739 I went305 up to Jerusalem2419 for to worship.4352

12 And they neither3777 found2147 me in the temple2411 disputing1256 with any5100 man, neither2228 raising4160 1999 up the people,3793 neither2228 in the synagogues,4864 nor3777 in the city:4172

13 Neither2228 can1410 they prove3936 the things whereof4012 3739 they now3568 accuse2723 me.

14 But this5124 I confess3670 to you, that after2596 the way3598 which3739 they call3004 heresy,139 so3779 worship3000 I the God2316 of my fathers,3971 believing4100 all3956 things which3588 are written1125 in the law3551 and in the prophets:4396

15 And have2192 hope1680 toward1519 God,2316 which3739 they themselves846 also2532 allow,4327 that there shall be a resurrection386 of the dead,3498 both5037 of the just1342 and unjust.94

16 And herein1722 5129 do I exercise778 myself, to have2192 always1275 a conscience4893 void677 to offense677 toward4314 God,2316 and toward men.444

17 Now1161 after1223 many4119 years2094 I came3854 to bring4160 alms1654 to my nation,1484 and offerings.4376

18 Whereupon1722 3739 certain5100 Jews2453 from Asia773 found2147 me purified48 in the temple,2411 neither3756 with multitude,3793 nor3761 with tumult.2351

19 Who3739 ought1163 to have been3918 here3918 before1909 you, and object,2723 if1487 they had2192 ought5100 against4314 me.

20 Or2228 else let these3778 same3778 here say,2036 if1487 they have found2147 any1536 evil92 doing92 in me, while I stood2476 before1909 the council,4892

21 Except2228 it be for this5026 one3391 voice,5456 that I cried2896 standing2476 among1722 them, Touching4012 the resurrection386 of the dead3498 I am called2919 in question2919 by you this4594 day.4594

22 And when Felix5344 heard191 these5023 things, having more197 perfect197 knowledge1492 of that way,3598 he deferred306 them, and said,2036 When3752 Lysias3079 the chief5506 captain5506 shall come2597 down,2597 I will know1231 the uttermost1231 of your2596 5209 matter.2596

23 And he commanded1299 a centurion1543 to keep5083 Paul,3972 and to let him have2192 liberty,425 and that he should forbid2967 none3367 of his acquaintance2398 to minister5256 or2228 come4334 to him.

24 And after3326 certain5100 days,2250 when Felix5344 came3854 with his wife1135 Drusilla,1409 which was a Jewess,2453 he sent3343 for Paul,3972 and heard191 him concerning4012 the faith4102 in Christ.5547

25 And as he reasoned1256 of righteousness,1343 temperance,1466 and judgment2917 to come3195 1510 Felix5344 trembled,1719 1096 and answered,611 Go4198 your way for this3568 time;3568 when I have3335 a convenient2540 season,2540 I will call3333 for you.

26 He hoped1679 also260 that money5536 should have3335 been given1325 him of Paul,3972 that he might loose3089 him: why1352 he sent3343 for him the oftener,4437 and communed3656 with him.

27 But after4137 two1333 years1333 Porcius4201 Festus5347 came2983 1240 into Felix'5344 room:1240 and Felix,5344 willing2309 to show2698 the Jews2453 a pleasure,5485 left2641 Paul3972 bound.1210
