Luke

Chapter 21

1 And he looked308 up, and saw1492 the rich4145 men casting906 their gifts1435 into1519 the treasury.1049

2 And he saw1492 also2532 a certain5100 poor3998 widow5503 casting906 in thither1563 two1417 mites.3016

3 And he said,2036 Of a truth230 I say3004 to you, that this3778 poor4434 widow5503 has cast906 in more4119 than they all:3956

4 For all537 these3778 have of their abundance4052 cast906 in to the offerings1435 of God:2316 but she of her penury5303 has cast906 in all537 the living979 that she had.2192

5 And as some5100 spoke3004 of the temple,2411 how3754 it was adorned2885 with goodly2573 stones3037 and gifts,334 he said,2036

6 As for these5023 things which3739 you behold,2334 the days2250 will come,2064 in the which3739 there shall not be left863 one stone3037 on another, that shall not be thrown2647 down.2647

7 And they asked1905 him, saying,3004 Master,1320 but when4218 shall these5023 things be? and what5101 sign4592 will there be when3752 these5023 things shall come1096 to pass?

8 And he said,2036 Take heed991 that you be not deceived:4105 for many4183 shall come2064 in my name,3686 saying,3004 I am1510 Christ; and the time2540 draws near:1448 go4198 you not therefore3767 after3694 them.

9 But when3752 you shall hear191 of wars4171 and commotions,181 be not terrified:4422 for these5023 things must1163 first4412 come1096 to pass; but the end5056 is not by and by.

10 Then5119 said3004 he to them, Nation1484 shall rise1453 against1909 nation,1484 and kingdom932 against1909 kingdom:932

11 And great3173 earthquakes4578 shall be in divers places,5117 and famines,3042 and pestilences;3061 and fearful5400 sights5400 and great3173 signs4592 shall there be from heaven.3772

12 But before4253 all537 these,5130 they shall lay1911 their hands5495 on1909 you, and persecute1377 you, delivering3860 you up to the synagogues,4864 and into prisons,5438 being brought71 before1909 kings935 and rulers2232 for my name's3686 sake.1752

13 And it shall turn576 to you for a testimony.3142

14 Settle5087 it therefore3767 in your5216 hearts,2588 not to meditate4304 before4304 what you shall answer:626

15 For I will give1325 you a mouth4750 and wisdom,4678 which3739 all3956 your5213 adversaries480 shall not be able1410 to gainsay471 nor3761 resist.436

16 And you shall be betrayed3860 both2532 by parents,1118 and brothers,80 and kinfolks,4773 and friends;5384 and some of you shall they cause2289 to be put2289 to death.2289

17 And you shall be hated3404 of all3956 men for my name's3686 sake.

18 But there shall not an hair2359 of your5216 head2776 perish.622

19 In your5216 patience5281 possess2932 you your5216 souls.5590

20 And when3752 you shall see1492 Jerusalem2419 compassed2944 with armies,4760 then5119 know1097 that the desolation2050 thereof846 is near.1448

21 Then5119 let them which are in Judaea2449 flee5343 to the mountains;3735 and let them which are in the middle3319 of it depart1633 out; and let not them that are in the countries5561 enter1525 thereinto.1519 846

22 For these3778 be the days2250 of vengeance,1557 that all3956 things which3588 are written1125 may be fulfilled.4137

23 But woe3759 to them that are with child,1722 1064 2192 and to them that give suck,2337 in those1565 days!2250 for there shall be great3173 distress318 in the land,1093 and wrath3709 on this5129 people.2992

24 And they shall fall4098 by the edge4750 of the sword,3162 and shall be led163 away captive163 into1519 all3956 nations:1484 and Jerusalem2419 shall be trodden3961 down of the Gentiles,1484 until891 the times2540 of the Gentiles1484 be fulfilled.4137

25 And there shall be signs4592 in the sun,2246 and in the moon,4582 and in the stars;798 and on the earth1093 distress4928 of nations,1484 with perplexity;640 the sea2281 and the waves4535 roaring;2278

26 Men's444 hearts674 failing674 them for fear,5401 and for looking4329 after4329 those3588 things which are coming1904 on1904 the earth:3625 for the powers1411 of heaven3772 shall be shaken.4531

27 And then5119 shall they see3700 the Son5207 of man444 coming2064 in a cloud3507 with power1411 and great4183 glory.1391

28 And when these5130 things begin756 to come1096 to pass, then look352 up, and lift1869 up your5216 heads;2776 for your5216 redemption629 draws near.1448

29 And he spoke2036 to them a parable;3850 Behold1492 the fig4808 tree,4808 and all3956 the trees;1186

30 When3752 they now2235 shoot4261 forth,4261 you see991 and know1097 of your1438 own selves1438 that summer2330 is now2235 near1451 at1451 hand.

31 So3779 likewise2532 you, when3752 you see1492 these5023 things come1096 to pass, know1097 you that the kingdom932 of God2316 is near1451 at1451 hand.

32 Truly281 I say3004 to you, This3778 generation1074 shall not pass3928 away, till2193 all3956 be fulfilled.1096

33 Heaven3772 and earth1093 shall pass3928 away: but my words3056 shall not pass3928 away.

34 And take heed4337 to yourselves,1438 lest3379 at3379 any3379 time3379 your5216 hearts2588 be overcharged925 with surfeiting,2897 and drunkenness,3178 and cares3308 of this life,982 and so that day2250 come2186 on you unawares.160

35 For as a snare3803 shall it come1904 on1909 all3956 them that dwell2521 on1909 the face4383 of the whole3956 earth.1093

36 Watch69 you therefore,3767 and pray1189 always,1722 3956 2540 that you may be accounted2661 worthy2661 to escape1628 all3956 these5023 things that shall come1096 to pass, and to stand2476 before1715 the Son5207 of man.444

37 And in the day2250 time2250 he was teaching1321 in the temple;2411 and at night3571 he went1831 out, and stayed835 in the mount3735 that is called2564 the mount of Olives.1636

38 And all3956 the people2992 came3719 early3719 in the morning to him in the temple,2411 for to hear191 him.

Chapter 21

1 JESUS then looked at the rich men who were casting their offerings into the trea sury.

2 And he also saw a poor widow, who cast in two pennies.

3 And he said, Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has cast in more than every man.

4 For all these cast into the house of the offerings of God of their abundance; but she of her poverty cast in everything she had earned.

5 While some men were talking about the temple, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and gift offerings, Jesus said to them,

6 These things which you see, the days will come when not a stone will be left upon a stone, which will not be torn down.

7 And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when will these things happen? and what is the sign when these things are about to happen?

8 He said to them, Be careful that you may not be deceived; for many will come in my name, and say, I am the Christ; and the time is near; but do not follow them.

9 And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be afraid; for all these things must first come to pass; but the end is not vet.

10 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

11 And there will be great earthquakes in different places, and famines and plagues; and there will be alarming sights, and great signs will appear from heaven; and the winters will be severe.

12 But before all these things, they will lay hands on you, and persecute you, and deliver you to the synagogues and the prisons; and they will bring you before kings and governors for the sake of my name.

13 It will be to you for a testimony.

14 Treasure it in your heart, and do not try to learn what to answer.

15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your enemies will not be able to withstand.

16 You will be delivered up even by your parents and brothers, and your relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.

17 And you will be hated by every man because of my name.

18 And yet not a hair of your head will be lost.

19 By your patience you will gain your souls.

20 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by an army, then know that its destruction is at hand.

21 Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountain; and let those who are within it flee; and let those who are in the fields not enter into it.

22 For these are the days of vengeance, so that everything which is written must be fulfilled.

23 But woe to those who are with child, and to those who give suck in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.

24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and they will be taken captive to every country; and Jerusalem will be trodden under the feet of the Gentiles, until the time of the Gentiles comes to an end.

25 And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars; and on earth distress of the nations, and confusion because of the roaring of the sea;

26 And upheaval that takes life out of men, because of fear of what is to come on earth; and the powers of the universe will be shaken.

27 Then they will see the Son of man coming in the clouds, with a large army and great glory.

28 But when these things begin to happen, have courage, and lift up your heads; because your salvation is at hand.

29 And he said to them a parable, Look at the fig tree and all the trees;

30 When they put forth leaves, you immediately understand by them that the summer is near.

31 Even so you also, when you see these things happen, know that the kingdom of God is near.

32 Truly I say to you, This generation will not pass away until all these things happen.

33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

34 But take heed to yourselves, that your hearts may not become heavy by extravagance, and drunkenness, and worries of this world, and that day come suddenly upon you.

35 For like a downpour it will entrap all those who dwell on the face of all the earth.

36 Therefore keep watch all the time and pray, so that you may be worthy to escape all these things which are to happen, and that you may stand before the Son of man.

37 During the day he taught in the temple; and at night he went out, and lodged in the mountain, which is called the Home of Olives.

38 And all the people came ahead of him to the temple, to hear him.

29 And he spoke2036 to them a parable;3850 Behold1492 the fig4808 tree,4808 and all3956 the trees;1186

29 And he said to them a parable, Look at the fig tree and all the trees;

30 When3752 they now2235 shoot4261 forth,4261 you see991 and know1097 of your1438 own selves1438 that summer2330 is now2235 near1451 at1451 hand.

30 When they put forth leaves, you immediately understand by them that the summer is near.

31 So3779 likewise2532 you, when3752 you see1492 these5023 things come1096 to pass, know1097 you that the kingdom932 of God2316 is near1451 at1451 hand.

31 Even so you also, when you see these things happen, know that the kingdom of God is near.

32 Truly281 I say3004 to you, This3778 generation1074 shall not pass3928 away, till2193 all3956 be fulfilled.1096

37 And in the day2250 time2250 he was teaching1321 in the temple;2411 and at night3571 he went1831 out, and stayed835 in the mount3735 that is called2564 the mount of Olives.1636
