耶利米書

第3章

1 他們［They］說：『人若休妻，妻離他而去，作了別人的妻，前夫豈能再收回她來？若收回她來，那地豈不是大大玷污了嗎？』但你和許多親愛的行邪淫，還可以歸向我。這是耶和華說的。

2 你向眾高邱［high places］舉目觀看，你在何處沒有淫行呢？你坐在道旁等候他們［them］，好像阿拉伯人在曠野埋伏一樣；並且你的淫行邪惡玷污了全地。

3 因此甘霖停止，晚雨［latter rain］不降。你還是有淫婦之額［whore's forehead］，不顧羞恥。

4 從今以後，你豈不向我呼叫說：我父啊，你是我幼年的引導［guide］。

5 耶和華豈永遠懷怒，存留到底嗎？』看哪，你又發惡言又行壞事，逞你所能的去行［as thou couldest］。」

6 約西亞王在位的時候，耶和華又對我說：「背道的以色列所行的，你看見沒有？她上各高山，在各青翠樹下行淫。

7 她行了這一切［had done all these］事以後，我說：『妳當回轉［Turn thou］歸向我。』她卻不回來［returned］。她奸詐的姊妹［sister］猶大也看見了。

8 正當［when］背道的以色列犯了姦淫［committed adultery］，我為一切［all］緣故給她休書休她的時候［when］，我看見她奸詐的姊妹［sister］猶大，還不懼怕，也去行淫。

9 因以色列輕忽了她的淫亂，和石頭木頭犯了姦淫［committed adultery］，她就玷污了地［that she defiled the land］。

10 雖有這一切的事，她奸詐的姊妹［sister］猶大還不一心轉［turned］向我，不過是假意轉向［feignedly］我。這是耶和華說的。」

11 耶和華對我說：「背道的以色列比奸詐的猶大還顯為義。

12 你去向北方宣告說：耶和華說：背道的以色列啊，回來吧。這樣［and］我必不使我怒氣臨到［will not cause mine anger to fall upon］你們；因為我是慈愛的，我必不永遠存怒。這是耶和華說的。

13 只要承認你的罪孽，就是你違背耶和華─你的神，在各青翠樹下向外人［strangers］東奔西跑，沒有聽從我的話，這是耶和華說的。

14 耶和華說：背道的兒女啊，回轉［Turn］吧。因為我已娶了你們［I am married unto you］，並且我必將你們從一城取一人，從一族取兩人，帶到錫安。

15 我也必將合我心的牧者賜給你們。他們必以知識和智慧牧養你們。」

16 耶和華說：「你們在國中生養增多［increased］；當那些日子，人必不再提說耶和華的約櫃，不追想，不記念，不覺缺少，也不再製造。

17 那時，人必稱耶路撒冷為耶和華的寶座；列國必到耶路撒冷，在耶和華立名的地方聚集。他們必不再隨從自己妄想［imagination］的惡心行事。

18 當那些日子，猶大家要和以色列家同行，從北方之地一同來到我賜給你們列祖為業之地。」

19 我卻［But］說：我豈能［How shall I］將你安置在兒女之中，賜給你美地，就是列國中肥美的產業呢？我就說［and I said］：你［Thou］必稱我為我［My］父，也不再轉離［turn away from］我。

20 以色列家啊［O］，你們向我行詭詐，真像妻子行詭詐離開她丈夫一樣。這是耶和華說的。

21 在高邱［high places］聽見人聲，就是以色列人哭泣懇求之聲；乃因他們走彎曲之道，忘記耶和華─他們的神。

22 你們這背道的兒女啊，回來吧，我要醫治你們背道的病。看哪，我們來到你這裏；因你是耶和華─我們的神。

23 盼望［hoped］從小山或從眾多的大山［multitude of mountains］中得拯救［salvation］，真是枉然的；以色列得救，誠然在乎耶和華─我們的神。

24 原來［For］從我們幼年以來，羞恥［shame］將我們列祖所勞碌得來的羊群、牛群，和他們的兒女都吞吃了。

25 我們躺臥在羞恥中［We lie down in our shame］，我們的慚愧［our confusion］將我們遮蓋；因為從幼年［youth］以來，我們和我們的列祖常常得罪耶和華─我們的神，沒有聽從耶和華─我們神的話。

Jeremiah

Chapter 3

1 IF a man put away his wife, and she go from him and become another man's wife, and he return to her again, behold, the land shall be defiled. But you have committed adultery with many rulers; return again to me, says the LORD.

2 Lift up your eyes to the highways, and see if there is a place where you have not defiled yourself. In the roads you have sat waiting for them, like an ostrich in the wilderness; and you have polluted the land with your whoredom.

3 And because of your wickedness the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; and you have become shameless like a whore, you have refused to be reproved.

4 Behold, now you say to me, My father, and thou art foster mother of my childhood.

5 Will God reserve his anger for ever? Or will he keep it to the end? Behold, you have spoken, and have done evil things beyond measure.

6 The LORD said to me in the days of King Josiah, Have you seen the thing which she who dwells in Israel has done? She has gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the harlot.

7 And I said after she had done all these things, Return to me, but she did not return. And her perverseness was seen by her sister Judah.

8 And she saw all Israel's evil-doings. And because the inhabitants of Israel committed adultery, I had put her away and given a bill of divorce; yet her perverse sister Judah did not fear, but went and played the harlot also.

9 And her whoredom was so excessive that she defiled the land and committed adultery with idols of stone and wood,

10 And yet, for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only with falsehood, says the LORD.

11 And the LORD said to me, The inhabitant of Israel has justified herself more than her perverse sister Judah.

12 Go proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Repent, O you inhabitant of Israel, says the LORD; and I will not be severe against you; for I am good, says the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.

13 Only acknowledge your iniquity, for you have sinned against the LORD your God, and have scattered your evil practices to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice, says the LORD.

14 Repent, O backsliding children, says the LORD; for I was pleased with you; and took one person of you from every town and two from every family, and I brought you to Zion.

15 And I will give you rulers according to my own heart, who will govern you with knowledge and understanding.

16 And it shall come to pass when you have multiplied and increased in the land in those days, says the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD; neither shall it come to mind, nor shall they remember it, nor shall they visit it, nor shall that ritual be performed any more.

17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall look up to the name of the LORD; neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to their fathers.

19 And I said, I will consider you as children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations; and I said, You shall call me, My father, and shall not turn away from me.

20 Surely as a wife lies about her lover, so has the house of Israel lied against me, says the LORD.

21 A voice was heard on the highways, the weeping and supplications of the children of Israel; for they have perverted their ways, and they have forsaken the LORD their God.

22 Repent, O you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings; and say, Behold, we are yours; for thou art the LORD our God.

23 Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills and from fortified mountains; truly, in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.

24 For shame has devoured the labor of our fathers from their childhood, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

25 Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.

8 And she saw all Israel's evil-doings. And because the inhabitants of Israel committed adultery, I had put her away and given a bill of divorce; yet her perverse sister Judah did not fear, but went and played the harlot also.

9 因以色列輕忽了她的淫亂，和石頭木頭犯了姦淫［committed adultery］，她就玷污了地［that she defiled the land］。

9 And her whoredom was so excessive that she defiled the land and committed adultery with idols of stone and wood,

10 雖有這一切的事，她奸詐的姊妹［sister］猶大還不一心轉［turned］向我，不過是假意轉向［feignedly］我。這是耶和華說的。」

10 And yet, for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only with falsehood, says the LORD.

11 耶和華對我說：「背道的以色列比奸詐的猶大還顯為義。

11 And the LORD said to me, The inhabitant of Israel has justified herself more than her perverse sister Judah.

12 你去向北方宣告說：耶和華說：背道的以色列啊，回來吧。這樣［and］我必不使我怒氣臨到［will not cause mine anger to fall upon］你們；因為我是慈愛的，我必不永遠存怒。這是耶和華說的。

12 Go proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Repent, O you inhabitant of Israel, says the LORD; and I will not be severe against you; for I am good, says the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.

13 Only acknowledge your iniquity, for you have sinned against the LORD your God, and have scattered your evil practices to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice, says the LORD.

16 And it shall come to pass when you have multiplied and increased in the land in those days, says the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD; neither shall it come to mind, nor shall they remember it, nor shall they visit it, nor shall that ritual be performed any more.

17 那時，人必稱耶路撒冷為耶和華的寶座；列國必到耶路撒冷，在耶和華立名的地方聚集。他們必不再隨從自己妄想［imagination］的惡心行事。

17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall look up to the name of the LORD; neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

18 當那些日子，猶大家要和以色列家同行，從北方之地一同來到我賜給你們列祖為業之地。」

18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to their fathers.

19 我卻［But］說：我豈能［How shall I］將你安置在兒女之中，賜給你美地，就是列國中肥美的產業呢？我就說［and I said］：你［Thou］必稱我為我［My］父，也不再轉離［turn away from］我。

19 And I said, I will consider you as children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations; and I said, You shall call me, My father, and shall not turn away from me.

20 以色列家啊［O］，你們向我行詭詐，真像妻子行詭詐離開她丈夫一樣。這是耶和華說的。

20 Surely as a wife lies about her lover, so has the house of Israel lied against me, says the LORD.

21 在高邱［high places］聽見人聲，就是以色列人哭泣懇求之聲；乃因他們走彎曲之道，忘記耶和華─他們的神。

21 A voice was heard on the highways, the weeping and supplications of the children of Israel; for they have perverted their ways, and they have forsaken the LORD their God.

22 你們這背道的兒女啊，回來吧，我要醫治你們背道的病。看哪，我們來到你這裏；因你是耶和華─我們的神。

22 Repent, O you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings; and say, Behold, we are yours; for thou art the LORD our God.

23 盼望［hoped］從小山或從眾多的大山［multitude of mountains］中得拯救［salvation］，真是枉然的；以色列得救，誠然在乎耶和華─我們的神。

23 Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills and from fortified mountains; truly, in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.

24 原來［For］從我們幼年以來，羞恥［shame］將我們列祖所勞碌得來的羊群、牛群，和他們的兒女都吞吃了。

24 For shame has devoured the labor of our fathers from their childhood, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

25 我們躺臥在羞恥中［We lie down in our shame］，我們的慚愧［our confusion］將我們遮蓋；因為從幼年［youth］以來，我們和我們的列祖常常得罪耶和華─我們的神，沒有聽從耶和華─我們神的話。

25 Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
